Prime Video has announced that they will debut a spinoff of its hugely popular action drama, Reacher.
The new series, which is currently unnamed, will center around the protagonist of the original show, Jack Reacher’s former military colleague and sometime collaborator Frances Neagley. Maria Sten, who has appeared in both seasons of Reacher thus far will reprise the role in the spinoff.
Neagley who works as a private investigator in Chicago learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, and becomes “hell bent on justice” according to the show’s log line. “Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.”
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, told the Hollywood Reporter: “As Reacher continues to resonate with our global customers in a profound way, expanding on the storytelling and characters with a spinoff was an easy decision.
“With Nick and Nicholas as well as our partners Skydance and CBS Studios, we’re confident this new chapter, starring the amazing Maria Sten, will not only honor the Reacher legacy, but also bring fresh energy and excitement to new and longtime fans alike.”
The new series will be created by Reacher show runner and executive producer Nick Santora, who adapted the original series from the book series of the same name by British thriller author Lee Child.
Reacher season 3 is coming to Prime Video and is expected to premiere in early 2025.
