Michael Alexandersson hoped to win over the hearts and ears of the judges on Oct. 8’s episode.
A Salado resident hit the stage on Oct. 8 for a possibly lifechanging performance.
Michael Alexandersson was a contestant on the latest episode of The Voice, performing for a chance to join Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, Gwen Stefani or Snoop Dogg on their teams in this year’s competition.
Alexandersson is originally from California, but now calls Salado home, according to his website. He comes from a family of musicians, with his father also being a professional singer and guitar player and his great-grandfather being a popular singer in Sweden in the 1930s.
From Frank Sinatra to Bobby Darin to Elvis Presley, Alexandersson says he covers “all of the swingin’ tunes you know and love”.
The Central Texas community cheered Alexandersson on with a watch party at the Barton House in Salado during the episode. Alexandersson himself was even in attendance at the event, and performed ahead of the episode’s premiere.
Alexandersson’s rendition of Dean Martin’s “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” earned chair turns from both Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani, but he ultimately decided to join Team Snoop. Alexanderson gives all the credit to his village, the people and the city.
“It’s incredible because they’ve been backing me up since the beginning and now I got to get so much further and I couldn’t do it without them,” Alexandersson told 6 News. “I just love the support. I just want to do it for Salado”
Alexandersson said he was expecting Bublé and McEntire to be the ones to turn their chairs, and was pleasantly surprised to get the attention from other coaches. He said Snoop Dog is a “cool man” and he anticipates to learn a lot from him and also the other talented musicians.
Waco’s Kendall Eugene also performed on the show earlier this season, joining Reba McEntire’s team.
