Michael Jordan arrives with $80 million splash for new year celebration at billionaire-favorite Caribbean getaway.
For years St. Bart’s has been the favorite destination of every celebrity during the holidays. This year too, the Caribbean island has seen an inflow of prominent people for the post-Christmas bash. Michael Jordan is one of many who enjoy tossing it back in sunny St. Bart’s pristine waters. Like other billionaires, he arrived in luxury too.
Celebrity-watchers noticed the MJ daysailer, Joy, docked in the St. Barts shoreline announcing his presence. He’s not the only one around. Jeff Bezos, Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, Mets owner Steve Cohen, Jennifer Lopez, and even honorary Kardashian Scott Disick were photographed in the island.

St. Barts is filling up with holiday visitors from billionaires to reality star wannabes, like Scott Disick.
Jennifer Lopez was heard singing as she strolled down the beach.
Jordan and Joy are the great attractions of St Bart’s this year. The yacht is a 230-foot vessel worth $80 million. Sure it’s nothing compared to Dreamworks titan, David Geffen’s $400 million behemoth, but it’s still stunning. Other than a 19-person crew, one of the features of this boat is also the existence of a basketball court on the deck.
David Geffen’s giant boat has also been allegedly spotted in the area.
Yachts are pulling up to the island in time for New Year’s celebrations.
It’s a common misconception that Jordan owns Joy. The actual owner of this yacht is Indian millionaire Sameer Gehlaut, who rents it out to celebrities like His Airness for a whopping $840,000 per week.
Studio Indigo was hired by the boat owner to create the interiors. It has trampolines, an elevator, a games deck, a spa, a gym, a private club, and more.
Additionally, Michael Jordan makes frequent use of a less fancy cup called “Mr Terrible.” It costs a pitiful $21 million. “Catch23,” one of his boats, placed third in the Mid-Atlantic Fishing Tournament. But he has a definite favorite when it comes to taking off for Saint Barthelemy.
MJ’s little Joy during dire times
MJ is known to have purchased or rented a minimum of three distinct boats. In 2016, he made his debut appearance on Joy’s decks on a voyage to St. Bart’s. Since then, he has traveled around Europe in a yacht with celebrities like Magic Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson.
Jordan was seen with Catch23 at the Maryland White Marlin Open this year. Despite not winning this competition, Catch 23’s NASCAR team, 23XI, fell in the standings. In addition, he is wrapping off his $3 billion buyout of the Charlotte Hornets ownership group this year.
Not to be discouraged, MJ is relaxing aboard Joy with his well-known friends in St. Bart’s to get over the terrible year. Look out for Air Jordan at any of the island’s New Year’s celebrations.
