Spoiler alert: The following article contains light spoilers from Happy’s Place season 1, episode 2, “Tapped Out.”
After two episodes of Happy’s Place, there is not much romance in the show, but Reba McEntire’s connection to one costar (outside of McEntire’s reunion with Reba actor, Melissa Peterman) suggests there is hope for the two characters to get together. In the premiere, McEntire’s Bobbie was blindsided by the reveal that she had a half-sister (Isabella). Not only did she learn of Isabella’s existence, but Bobbie also discovered that their father gave 50 percent ownership of his bar to Isabella in his will.
So, Bobbie has a lot going on. Nevertheless, the few scenes between Bobbie and Emmett imply that their dynamic could turn romantic. Emmett is Happy’s Place’s resident chef, who is gruff, quiet, and prefers to be left alone, but he also serves as Bobbie’s confidant. McEntire’s character goes to Emmett when she is frustrated and needs to let out a little steam. Meanwhile, Emmett listens to Bobbie and gives her advice. It wouldn’t be surprising if Bobbie and Emmett have a budding romance, which would be even more exciting because of the Happy’s Place cast members’ real-life relationship.
Reba McEntire’s Real-Life Boyfriend Plays Emmett In Happy’s Place
McEntire Started Dating Rex Linn In 2020
Yes, Happy’s Place‘s Reba reunion between Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman is exciting. However, the NBC sitcom contains another interesting link between two stars — McEntire and Rex Linn, who plays Emmett. The two actors are in a relationship in real life, having started dating in June 2020. McEntire and Linn first met in 1991, though, when they both starred in the Western TV film The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. According to PEOPLE, the couple kept in touch over the years, but their relationship didn’t turn romantic until they reunited on the set of Young Sheldon in early 2020.

They also played husband and wife in Big Sky on ABC and joined forces in the Lifetime TV film Reba McEntire’s The Hammer. Now, McEntire and Linn are both in the main cast of the new NBC comedy Happy’s Place.
Why Bobbie & Emmett Is Happy’s Place’s Best Chance At A Romantic Plot
Bobbie & Emmett Have Chemistry
Happy’s Place season 1, episode 2 revolved around Bobbie struggling to adjust to sharing ownership of the bar with Isabella. So, there was little time for romance during the episode. However, based on what the audience has seen so far, if there were to be a love story in the NBC sitcom, it would likely be between Bobbie and Emmett. Neither appears to be married, and they share chemistry (for obvious reasons). Bobbie and Emmett also seem to be close friends, and Happy’s Place may be setting up a potential slow-burn or will-they/won’t-they romance between the two characters.
