Bridgertonâs fourth season continues to inch closer, and while weâre surely to be enchanted by the latest leading couple of Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie (Yerin Ha), we canât deny that weâre looking forward to seeing Season 3âs leading duo, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton), a.k.a. Polin.
But, after Penelopeâs public exposure as Lady Whistledown in Season 3, what can fans anticipate from her and Colinâs storyline as Season 4 picks up? The latest tease as part of Shondalandâs â12 Days of Bridgertonâ reveals an exciting addition to the Featherington-Bridgerton family. Below, weâre breaking down the key details we know about Polinâs Season 4 return so far, ranging from the current Whistledown status to the coupleâs new baby.
Penelope & Colinâs baby name revealed
In a very special moment for fans of Polin, Bridgerton and Shondalandâs official social media accounts posted a letter from Lady Whistledown stating the always welcome opener of, âDearest Gentle ReaderâŠâ The letter goes on to cite, âIt would seem with each passing season, the Bridgerton family only continues to grow. Since last season, Mr. Colin Bridgerton and Mrs. Penelope Bridgerton (nee Featherington) have welcomed their first child. A beautiful, joyous little boy, and heir to the Featherington title. Do join me in celebrating the arrival of Lord Elliot Featherington. This author eagerly awaits you making his acquaintance.â

The baby name seems like it could be a nod to Penelopeâs best friend, and Colinâs sister, Eloise (Claudia Jessie), but only time will tell as Penelope and Colin donât have any children with that name in Julia Quinnâs novels. What happens to Lady Whistledown?
As previously teased during Bridgertonâs Season of Love celebration in February 2025, showrunner Jess Brownell revealed a new relationship between Penelope and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), and explained how the show will continue the gossip column, despite the Ton knowing Lady Whistledownâs true identity.
âSheâs got a new relationship with Penelope now that she knows who Whistledown is, and her relationship with Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) is also right at the center of the story,â Brownell teased in February. Fans have been offered a glimpse at this new working relationship in Season 4âs first look, which saw Penelope consulting with the Queen at the Bridgerton familyâs masquerade ball. As Penelopeâs close confidante, weâre sure Colin will be involved or included in some way, shape, or form.
Newlywed bliss
As indicated in the latest teases, Penelope and Colin are still under the newlywed haze, making way for lighter and fluffier moments between the pair after their ups and downs in Season 3. âWeâve got Penelope and Colin who are fully Polin now⊠they are merged. Colin is a wife guy. Theyâve got their baby,â Brownell said earlier in 2025. That potential room for joy was further corroborated by this caption on a video teasing a kiss between the happy couple, âAh, the bliss of newlywedsâŠâ
