âThe Hunting Wivesâ Season 2 Gets Filming Update After Netflix Renewal

Those expecting an extraordinarily long wait for the return of The Hunting Wives can rest easy, as new details have come out regarding the filming status of The Hunting Wives season 2, with news that itâll be gearing up for production imminently. Â
In case you missed it, Netflix officially gave the thumbs up to a second season last week after a month of speculation about the status following its incredibly successful debut on Netflix. Despite only releasing on Netflix in the United States, the series managed to
The renewal confirmed that Rebecca Cutter would return as showrunner in addition to the return of the majority of the main cast, including Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Jamie Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier. Julie Anne Robinson is expected to return to directing duties. Nicole Abellera Hallman and Jeanne McCarthy are leading casting directing duties.
Alongside news of the renewal, news that Netflix would be picking up the show in more regions also came alongside it, although those have yet to be fully fleshed out. To date, weâve yet to see any regions see the show ping up just yet, but we do know that Canada and Australia (and a handful of European territories) are expected not to be included.

When will filming kick off on season 2? Rumors have been circling about a November start date, and those are true, with November 17th currently eyed as the production start. Itâll once again be returning to Charlotte, North Carolina, to film (despite being set in Texas!) and run for about 4 months, with a current wrap date tentatively set for March 20th, 2026.

Warning: The following section contains spoilers. Proceed with caution!
Of course, this is expected to be yet another explosive season. Things spiraled out of control after teenager Abby (Madison Wolfe) was murdered near Margoâs lake house. While suspicion initially falls on Sophie, itâs eventually revealed that Margo killed Abby to hide her affair with Brad (George Ferrier) and her secret abortion. From there, violence continues to escalate. Abbyâs grieving mother Starr (Chrissy Metz) tries to take justice into her own hands, only to be shot by Jill (Katie Lowes). Jill herself is later gunned down by Callie (Jaime Ray Newman) after a tense standoff, and the police pin Abby and Starrâs deaths on her.
Sophie later uncovers proof that Margo was the real killer, but her attempt to confront her backfires. Margo enlists her brother Kyle (Michael Aaron Milligan) for help, and in a panic, Sophie runs him over when he threatens her. Afraid her past DUI and vehicular homicide record will condemn her, she hides the crime instead of going to the police. Meanwhile, sleazy Pastor Pete (Paul Teal) emerges as a predator linked to Abbyâs final calls. He abducts another girl before police close in, but he kills himself before capture, leaving his victims alive but scarred. By the finale, multiple characters are dead, Sophie is complicit in a cover-up, and Margo remains free, setting the stage for even darker drama to come.
What does this new production update mean for a release date? Honestly, it puts the odds of it coming in 2026 pretty good, with the caveat that itâll be much later in the year (between Q3-Q4 2026) if not an early 2027 release date.
