Texas family makes heartbreaking plea for help to find missing daughter: ‘Nightmare before Christmas’

A desperate father is begging for help finding his daughter nearly two weeks after she vanished in Texas — with his family calling it a real-life “nightmare before Christmas.”

Sydney Marquez, 24, was last seen walking northbound along a road in a diverse area of southwest Houston on Dec. 11, and her father fears key witnesses might be scared to talk to the police because of their immigration status.

“If you see my daughter, if she’s endangered. Please don’t stay quiet. If you see something, if you know something, please say something,” her father, Raul Marquez, told KHOU11.

“I miss my daughter, she needs to come home,” he added.

Some of the strongest leads so far have come from a shopping center in the Asiatown neighborhood of Houston, where volunteers have been canvassing businesses for surveillance video, according to the Houston Police Department.

Footage from the night of Dec. 11 shows Sydney walking normally close to the shopping center, KHOU11 reported.

“It didn’t look like she was in distress … not running, not staggering,” Tim Miller with Texas EquuSearch told the outlet.
