Leo’s last walk home as tributes paid to ‘lovely boy who was light of family’s life’
This is the last heartbreaking CCTV footage of Leo Ross alive during his final walk home from school before he was knifed to death in a senseless act of violence.
The 12-year-old was fatally stabbed in the stomach by a youth he did not know, who was aged just 14 at the time, near Scribers Lane in Hall Green on January 21 last year.
West Midlands Police said Leo was the “light of his family’s life from which they will never recover”.
Last CCTV images show the schoolboy walking along the pavement after finishing at Christ Church C of E Secondary School for the day.
Leo is seen dressed in his school uniform, with his coat hood up and a backpack on his shoulder.
He then disappears from view and is not seen again.
Det Insp Joe Davenport, who is in charge of the case, told BirminghamLive: “From what we know of Leo, from his school records and from the teachers that we have spoken to, he was a lovely boy.

“He was very well thought of by the school and had no records for violence or any kind of behavioural problems.
“His family are understandably devastated by this tragedy. Leo was the light of their life.
“Clearly this has left a massive hole in their life which they will never recover from.”
Other CCTV shows the killer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, dressed all in black on his bike heading to and from the scene.
Police bodycam footage also shows the interaction the killer had with officers.
The twisted killer claimed he came across Leo’s body and raised the alarm. This proved to be his downfall as police were suspicious of his account and he matched the description given in relation to three other attacks.
The teen has now admitted carrying out Leo’s murder and assaults on three elderly women between January 19 and January 21, last year.
