Jon Bernthal’s Netflix Thriller Series Gets Epic Season 2 Update After Wild Streaming Success

About a week ago, Netflix released all six episodes of its easy-to-binge mystery thriller, His & Hers, and in no time, it dominated streaming charts worldwide, even overtaking the science fantasy gem Stranger Things. Although described as a limited series, several fans have expressed interest in seeing the addictive story continue, but all that depends on Netflix, as series creator William Oldroyd, who also serves as an executive producer, recently weighed in on the possibility of another His & Hers season.

In a recent interview, Oldroyd failed to give a direct answer when asked whether his new miniseries would continue, saying only, “You have to ask Netflix.” As for whether he would love to develop a Season 2, the EP elaborated:

“It was conceived as a limited series. We didn’t think beyond that. I think we’ve created some great characters. The twist is terrific, and the audience is really reacting to it. They’re really responding to this series. Again, I think you have to ask Netflix to see what plans they have.”

At the center of His & Hers is an estranged couple, news anchor Anna (Tessa Thompson, also an executive producer) and detective Jack (Jon Bernthal). The series follows the duo as they both dig into a murder in her hometown, where Jack still lives. By the end, more women are killed, and it turns out that it was Anna’s mother, Alice (Crystal Fox), who was going after her daughter’s former high school classmates after learning about the roles they played in Anna’s assault. And Anna is the only one who knows of her mother’s vengeful actions.

What Could Happen in a Potential ‘His & Hers’ Season 2?

With how things ended in His & Hers, there are several points to progress from in a possible sophomore season. Oldroyd also has a few ideas to explore, which he dished on, noting that a second chapter could either pick up from the twisted Season 1 finale or “move on.”

“The question I have, which I would be interested to ask all the guys I made this with is, ‘Where do you pick it up from? Do you pick it up straight from where you’ve just left off? What does she do with this information? Or do we just move on?’ For me, it’s like, ‘Do you want to see what she does with that information, or do you want to just start from a position which is further down the line, and she’s sitting with it, and it’s still there, and she knows the truth, see how it plays out with her relationship with her mother after that?’”

His & Hers is streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for further information.
