Following the success of Adolescence, executive producers Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters opened up about the possibility of doing another season of Netflix’s newest crime drama series. In the show, Graham portrays the role of Eddie Miller, the father of a 13-year-old boy who has been accused of murdering his female classmate.

Netflix’s Adolescence was originally developed as a limited drama. However, this may possibly change due to the show’s ongoing critical and streaming success. Speaking with Variety, when asked if the streamer had already reached out to them for a potential second season, Graham and Walters confirmed that nothing is really official, but admitted that they’re indeed considering the possibility of working on another story for Adolescence Season 2. “Possibly, let’s see how the figures are,” Graham said with a smirk. “But yeah, there’s the possibility of developing another story.” However, Walters also acknowledged that it would be a “hard” task for them to follow up the level of impact that the first season has been receiving.

Walters continued, “A prequel to Adolescence, that’s certainly not going to happen. But there’s so much mileage in the one-shot and so much mileage in investing into human nature again and looking at something else. But yeah, everything’s looking good … everyone’s happy, shall we say?” The Netflix series served as the latest collaboration between the married couple, after previously starring together in theThis Is England franchise, the Boiling Point franchise, 2021’s Time movie, and most recently in the A Thousand Blows series. Walter also made an appearance as Mrs. Bailey in one episode of Adolescence.

Adolescence was a four-part limited drama which was co-written by Graham and Jack Thorne, with Philip Barantini serving as its director. The cast also included Ashley Walters (Top Boy), Erin Doherty (The Crown), Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones), Christine Tremarco (The Responder), Mark Stanley (Happy Valley), and Jo Hartley (After Life), with newcomers Owen Cooper and Amélie Pease. Since making its debut two weeks ago, the show has been garnering positive reviews from critics. It currently holds a near-perfect Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to the streamer, the series has already amassed 66.3 million views since launch, making it the most-watched limited series and most-watched UK title ever.

What’s Next for Stephen Graham?

Graham will next be seen reprising his role as Hayden Stagg in Netflix’s highly-anticipated Peaky Blinders movie titled, The Immortal Man. The project reunites him with series vets Cillian Murphy, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, and Packy Lee, along with creator Steven Knight. The crime drama movie will also introduce new characters in the form of Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan. Besides taking place during World War II, further details about its plot are still being kept under wraps. In addition, Graham’s newest show with Knight, A Thousand Blows, has also received positive feedback from critics. He will be reprising his character Henry “Sugar” Goodson in the second season of the Hulu boxing drama, which he is also executive producing with Walters.
