The creators behind Ozark and King Richard have teamed up on Netflix’s crime thriller series Black Rabbit.
Created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, the series follows Jake Friedkin (Jude Law), the owner of a hot new restaurant called the Black Rabbit, whose life threatens to spiral out of control when his chaotic brother Vince (Jason Bateman) comes back into his life.

Along with starring in the series, Law and Bateman serve as executive producers, while the latter directs two episodes. Laura Linney, Bateman’s former co-star on Ozark, also directs two of the show’s eight episodes.
The entirety of Black Rabbit was released on Netflix on September 18, 2025.
Has Black Rabbit been renewed for a season 2?
At the time of writing, Black Rabbit has not been renewed for a second season.
It’s billed as a miniseries, so it’s unlikely the show will be renewed for another season. However, there are instances where these kinds of shows have been extended beyond their planned run due to their popularity, such as Big Little Lies and Beef.

Have the creators said anything about a potential season 2?
Black Rabbit creators Zach Baylin and Kate Susman have both seemingly ruled out a second season, describing the show as a “tight but closed story”.
“On set, we all knew it was ending,” Susman told Esquire. “Everyone felt like it was very precious and a closed box. It was a story that had a beginning and an end and everyone was there to serve this tight but closed story.”
For Baylin, the story worked because there is a definitive ending. “We were all like, is there any way to continue this afterwards? But everyone stuck to their guns and just wanted to make sure that this story was told in the best way… The only way TV made sense to me coming from film was to really know what the ending was. And so the people whose TV minds work in that way, it’s so brilliant and confounding to me of the idea that you could just keep expanding and expanding.
“On one of the last days, we tore the restaurant down that we had built, and it was—it was pretty heartbreaking. Because you’re like, Okay, this experience—this story—really, it’s over.”
