NEED TO KNOW
Genesis Reid, 2, was reported missing from her Alabama home around 3 a.m. on Feb. 16 by her mother Adrienne Reid
Police later charged Adrienne with false reporting to law enforcement authorities alleging there were “inconsistencies in the information provided”
She has now been named a suspect in the case, with the district attorney saying in a news conference on Feb. 18 that “Adrienne Reid is the only person who knows where Genesis Reid is”
Investigators are still trying to determine what happened to missing 2-year-old Genesis Reid, who disappeared from her Alabama home earlier this week.
Genesis was reported missing around 3 a.m. local time on Monday, Feb. 16 by her 33-year-old mother Adrienne Reid, PEOPLE previously reported, citing authorities.
Adrienne was arrested and charged with false reporting to law enforcement the following day after authorities alleged “inconsistencies” in her story, according to a press release.
On Wednesday, Feb. 18, Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox announced in a news conference that Adrienne is the “only known suspect” in the case.
“Adrienne Reid is the only person who knows where Genesis Reid is,” he said, adding that her cash-only bond had been set to $1 million when she appeared via video in front of a judge Tuesday.
While he wouldn’t disclose why, he said they have reason to believe the mother is a “flight risk” if she were to be released from custody.
Tarbox said if bond is posted, Adrienne would be subjected to GPS monitoring and have to participate in a court referral program with active drug screening. She would also have to do daily check-ins at the Enterprise Police Department and remain within Coffee County unless granted court permission.
She is currently being held at the Coffee County Jail and has requested court-appointed counsel.

According to police, in Adrienne’s initial report Monday, she alleged “the child was missing, and the front door of their residence was open.”
Authorities said that “the initial search of the surrounding area did not produce any information regarding the child’s whereabouts” and “as the investigation progressed, detectives identified inconsistencies in the information provided, prompting a more intensive investigation.”
It was also determined that the toddler had not been seen in “several weeks,” per an earlier police press release.
The Enterprise Police Department, which is working with the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, previously said law enforcement was hoping to track down “an individual known as ‘Moriah’ as a person of interest.”
She was described by police as a Black female who frequented Levels Bar and Grille on Daleville Avenue in Enterprise, as well as areas in Ozark, PEOPLE previously reported.
Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore confirmed at the Wednesday news conference that Moriah remains a person of interest in the case and could have “key” information. He added that there are many other persons of interest on their radar.
According to Moore, a cadaver K9 searched a significant area surrounding Genesis’ residence Wednesday but didn’t find anything of evidentiary value.
He said investigators were “encouraged by the absence of any findings” in the area, and emphasized in a press release following the conference that search efforts remain active and methodical.
Authorities have also asked anyone who may have had a personal relationship or social interaction with Adrienne Reid between Dec. 24, 2025, and Feb. 16, 2026, to come forward.
“Our focus has not shifted. Our mission remains clear — to locate Genesis and bring her home,“ Moore added.
Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Genesis Reid is asked to contact the Enterprise Police Department at (334) 347-2222.
