Breathless Season 2 First LookNetflix’s Spanish hospital drama Breathless (known as Respira in Spanish territories) is finally ready to return to our screens with the second season getting fresh new first looks and now the official trailer ahead of its late October 2025 return. Season 2 of the series, created by Carlos Montero (ÉliteThe Mess You Leave Behind), will premiere globally on October 31, 2025.

The release date comes well over a year after the first season premiered on August 30th, 2024, with an official renewal coming last December.

In the new season, the Joaquín Sorolla Hospital has transitioned to become wholly private, challenging the values and ethics of its medical staff. At the heart of the chaos, Patricia (Najwa Nimri) continues her battle with cancer while deepening her emotional connection with Néstor (Borja Luna). Meanwhile, Jésica (Blanca Suárez) tries to reclaim her confidence as she wrestles with her feelings for both Lluís (Alfonso Bassave) and Biel (Manu Ríos).

Elsewhere, Pilar (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón) faces new complications with her son’s addiction, but unexpectedly becomes an ally to Quique (Xóan Fórneas) when controversial decisions from the hospital’s new leadership push him into murky territory. A new character, Sophie (Rachel Lascar), a renowned oncologist, arrives to shake things up and stir tensions even further.

Season 2 will consist of 8 episodes and features the return of several lead cast members, including Najwa Nimri (Money HeistRed Virgin), Aitana Sánchez-Gijón (Parallel Mothers), Blanca Suárez (Cable Girls), Manu Ríos (Élite), Borja Luna, and Alfonso Bassave. New additions to the cast include singer Pablo Alborán, Gustavo Salmerón, and Rachel Lascar. They’re joined by Ana Rayo, Macarena de Rueda, Blanca Martínez, Abril Zamora, Xóan Fórneas, Marwa Bakhat, and Claudia Traisac.

Following the release of season 1, Breathless spent 5 weeks in the Netflix global top 10s for Non-English TV, picking up 16.2M views. The show wasn’t solely a Spanish hit, with the series breaking into the weekly top 10s of 69 countries around the globe. In Spain, the show spent 52 days in the top 10.  The most recent Netflix Engagement Report revealed a steep drop-off in viewership in the first half of 2025, with only an additional 2.8M views, bringing its total on Netflix so far to 22.25M views across 143.5M hours viewed globally.
