Proud dad Dermot, 47, revealed his son’s name to be Kasper Koppang O’Leary as he played a song for his son on his BBC Radio 2 show over the weekend
Over the weekend, Dermot O’Leary confirmed the name of his newborn son, Kasper Koppang O’Leary.
The first time dad shared the news on his Radio 2 show as he dedicated Elbow’s One Day Like This to his boy, telling listeners it was playing in the delivery suite as Kasper arrived.
“So forgive this moment of brief self-indulgence while we play the song that accompanied that.

“So, this is for you Kasper with a K… my wife is very insistent on that,” laughed Dermot, who is married to TV producer Dee Koppang.
Dee, 41, previously revealed that she’d faced a ‘rocky road’ to motherhood and the name she and Dermot have picked for their boy appears to acknowledge their journey.
As she thanked fans for their support after announcing her pregnancy, Dee wrote: “Just wanted to say thank you so so much for all the lovely messages about our news… It’s been a rocky road to get here, so I wanted to send lots of love to any of you who are on that journey. Hang on in there. Sending love.”

The couple announced baby Koppang O’Leary had arrived a few weeks later
While Dermot previously revealed he ‘definitely wanted kids’ but he and Dee led ‘hectic’ lives.
The pair finally got their wish on June 24 this year when little Kasper arrived safely.
The name the couple picked for their son is of Persian origin meaning ‘bringer of treasure’.
The boy’s name is also hugely popular in Norway, where Oslo-born Dee’s family originate.
Kasper made the list of Top Boys names in Norway 2020 at 19th place – with Alexander/ Aleksander / Alexandar being the most popular choice.
