Will Emily in Paris Return for Season 6?

As the hit series comes back to Netflix today, fans may wonder what’s next for Emily, Mindy, Sylvie, and the whole team at Agence Grateau.

In one of the series’ most dramatic cliffhangers to date, Emily, formerly of Chicago, lately of Paris and Rome, officially split from her Italian fashion heir beau, Marcello Muratori. Just who was waiting to pick up the pieces? None other than her day one will-they-won’t-they, Chef Gabriel. It’s just one of the many dramatic plotlines in the latest, globe-trotting season of Netflix’s cotton-candy sweet series, Emily in Paris, the new season of which dropped today, just in time for the holidays.

Now that you’ve binged the whole season, the obvious question is: When will the next season be released? Below, everything we know about the sixth season of Emily in Paris.

Will there be a season 6 of Emily in Paris?

While Netflix hasn’t officially announced a sixth season, the show is once again a huge hit for the streamer. It’s also been going on for five years, making it one of the longer-running series currently airing.

It also seems likely that the creatives would be in, as creator Darren Star has said that he would make Emily in Paris “for as many seasons as [Netflix] would have us.”

When will hear about a season 6?

If there’s good news, it should come very soon. The fifth season was announced four days after the fourth concluded, while the third and fourth seasons were announced at the same time, a week after the conclusion of the second season.

Is the whole cast returning?

After season four, we officially lost Emily’s former friend and Gabriel’s former girlfriend, Camille (Camille Razat), whose story-line wound down after a mistaken pregnancy and an affair with an artist. This time, we could be in a similar situation with Emily’s love interest, Marcello, who decided to return the picturesque fictional town of Solitano, where he ‘raises goats’ (i.e., runs a luxury cashmere label). We might have also seen the last of Sylvie’s step-daughter, Genevieve. Last season, she moved to Paris from New York and became an assistant at Agence Grateau, but incompetence and a bad attitude sent her packing.

There’s no reason to believe that anyone else in the cast would be leaving, however. The popular main cast members all have unfinished storylines, and sometimes-love interests Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and Nico (Paul Forman) are likely to return as they battle for Mindy’s (Ashley Park’s) heart.

Though the season’s new characters haven’t formally announced their returns, it seems likely that Princess Jane (Minnie Driver) might be back, as she becomes an investor in Agence Grateau. Similarly, Bryan Greenberg, who appeared as a diplomatic aide and potential love interest for Emily over the Fourth of July, seems like a potential candidate for return, especially if Emily has another bout of homesickness for the U.S.

When would season 6 premiere?

Unlike other Netflix series, Emily in Paris has a pretty regular schedule, with new seasons premiering annually, so, if it’s renewed, we could expect season six around this time next year.

What would season 6 be about?

At this point, we can only imagine, but as Emily tearfully said at the conclusion of season five, she’s found a home in Paris, so we can expect the whole team back in France. This time, however, Agence Grateau is fighting for the future of their agency. Elsewhere, Emily will have to reconcile her feelings with Chef Gabriel, who—after learning about the breakup with Marcello—sends a postcard from the yacht he’s working on in the Mediterranean. The note? “Meet me in Greece.” So who knows? The next season might just be Emily in Athens.
