Fox News personality Kat Timpf revealed on Tuesday that she was diagnosed with breast cancer just hours before going into labor with her first child last week.
In a social media post on X, Timpf, a regular on Gutfeld!, shared that she received the diagnosis about 15 hours before delivering her son. “Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” she wrote.
Timpf reassured her followers that the cancer was caught early, with her doctor stating it was at “Stage 0” and was unlikely to have spread. “Or, as I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: Don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a LITTLE bit of cancer,” she added.
The diagnosis came at a time when she was already overdue and focused on delivering a healthy baby. She recalled being told that a double mastectomy would likely be the best course of action. “I asked all the questions I could, including if I could get a copy of my tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to the ultrasound of my baby,” she said.
Timpf described going into labor later that night, crawling on the floor of her apartment before heading to the hospital, where she learned at birth that she had a son.
The author and commentator acknowledged that her maternity leave over the next three months would be different from what she had envisioned. Despite the unexpected turn of events, she expressed gratitude. “Still, as I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) I’m learning to celebrate everything I can. I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom,” she said, adding that her son “might have saved my life.”
Her announcement quickly drew support from colleagues and friends. Gutfeld! host Greg Gutfeld tweeted, “We’re all here for you Kat!” Fox News host Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery praised Timpf’s strength, writing, “You are amazing in every way. And you were heroic in labor given the day you’d just had! I love you.”
Meghan McCain also offered words of encouragement, calling Timpf “one of the strongest women I’ve ever known,” and adding, “We love you and your family so much.”
Timpf ended her post on a hopeful note, writing, “Thank you all for your support, laughter, and love as I embrace this wildly unexpected chapter. Here’s to resilience, to miracles in the midst of chaos, and to finding humor and hope even on the toughest days.”
