‘The Diplomat’ Season 3 Trailer: Keri Russell Schemes Against Allison Janney’s U.S. President

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Season 3 of “The Diplomat,” starring Keri Russell and Bradley Whitford. The season will premiere on Oct. 16.

Season 3 will follow ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) after accusing Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot and admitting she’s after the VP’s job. But after the death of the president, it’s revealed that Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) may have inadvertently killed him. Kate will have to step into a role she never wanted, with a freedom she never expected, an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), and an unnerving bond with First Gentleman Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford). Season 2 followed the aftermath of the events in Season 1, which ended with a bomb being detonated in central London. The series follows Kate Wyler as she attempts to piece together who may be responsible for the bomb, sending her on a hunt to uncover who in the British government is responsible for sabotaging the country. As Kate begins digging deeper, she finds a dark web of lies and deception while balancing her relationship with her almost ex husband.

“The Diplomat” stars Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear,  Ato Essandoh, Celia Imrie, Michael McKean, Nana Mensah, Miguel Sandoval.

“The Diplomat” is created by Debora Cahn, who also serves as the showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers for the series are Russell, Janice Williams, Alex Graves, Peter Noah, Eli Attie.
