The area, which had previously been marked as having been screened, was swept again today by a larger team including FBI investigators.”But as of now, we’ve, we’ve we’re processing the scene, and we hope to have more information to release as soon as we’re as soon as we’re able, the area in question is probably about, I’d say, as the crow flies, about a quarter of a mile from here and probably a few 100 yards from her actual residence. It’s an area very, very close to here.”Sheriff Salazar said the body found is “consistent” with having been there for five or six days. The medical examiner will identify the body and determine the cause of death in the coming days.Investigators say that a firearm, which investigators had been searching for in connection with her death, had been found near the body.”There was a firearm missing in this case, we had not parted with that information publicly just yet, but I can tell you that there has been a video a firearm recovered at the scene where the where the body is missing from the home,” said Salazar. “The firearm that was missing did belong to a relative.”RELATED | FBI joins search for missing teen Camila Olmos, mental health possible concernSheriff Javier Salazar also said that Camila had been dealing with mental health struggles, including issues with school and home life, as well as a recent breakup.”During the course of the investigation, we developed some information that there may have been some suicidal ideations on Camila’s part before, some signs of depression undiagnosed, as far as we can tell,” said Sheriff Salazar.
“But from what’s being described to us, it sounds like it was a young person going through a very tough time in their life and going, sorry, going through some emotional issues, and there were some indicators of suicidal ideation as well. “Texas DPS has also announced that the Clear Alert issued for Camila Olmos has now been discontinued.Although the search has concluded for Camila for the time being, and 14-year-old Sofia Gabriela Peters-Cobos has reportedly been found safe, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for 17-year-old Angelique Johnson. As the search for 19-year-old Camila Olmos entered its sixth day, search efforts on the ground intensified with new search teams from the nonprofit Texas EquuSearch joining the effort. The search is focused on the Wildhorse neighborhood near Loop 1604 and Braun Road, where Olmos was last seen. Her father, Alfonso Mendoza, expressed doubt about a dashcam video released by the sheriff’s office, which they believe shows Camila on the day she disappeared.”Oh, it isn’t her, she’s a thin young lady, 110 pounds, and that dash cam looks like a heavier person,” Mendoza said.Tim Miller from Texas EquuSearch stated, “We want to make sure we have resources that would be available. It’s early on, we’re gonna look around and hold on to that hope that she’s alive out there somewhere.”Volunteers, including Frank Trevino, are working tirelessly to find any clue to Camila’s whereabouts. “There’s no clue whatsoever where she could be,” Trevino said.Camila’s family was frustrated by the lack of answers before the discovery of a body. “You got kids, father’s listening, I never wish this on anybody, I’m experiencing this, I don’t wish this situation on anybody, my heart’s broken,” said Mendoza.RELATED | Family, friends intensify search for missing 19-year-old last seen on Christmas EveRELATED | Community rallies to find missing teen Camila Olmos, last seen near home on Christmas EveNearly a week has passed since 19-year-old Camila Olmos was last seen, prompting her family and friends to resume searches near her home.Olmos was last seen leaving her home in the 11,000 block of Caspian Springs around 7 a.m. Christmas Eve, captured on home surveillance video just before 7 a.m.RELATED | MISSING: Help find 19-year-old Camila OlmosHer mother told authorities she often went on early morning walks, but this time she never returned. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says there have been no confirmed sightings since, and deputies are urging residents to review doorbell and surveillance footage.
