(NewsNation) — Bruce Willis’ children are “grieving” their father after his diagnosis, wife Emma Heming revealed in an interview with Vogue Australia.
Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a type of dementia that occurs earlier in life than Alzheimer’s disease and can result in personality changes and the loss of language ability.
Willis has reportedly lost the ability to speak, read or walk.

She said their daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, are grieving the loss of their father and the fact that he is missing out on major milestones in their lives.
Willis also has three older daughters: Rumer Willis, 37; Scout Willis, 34; and Tallulah Willis, 31, with ex-wife Demi Moore.
In the interview, Heming described the conversation as “bigger than Bruce,” highlighting the fact that in the U.S., there are 11 million people caring for loved ones with dementia.
Heming told the magazine she is using her platform to advocate for more support for caregivers, who often have to take a step back from their own lives and careers and shoulder the often-isolating burden of caring for someone with a progressive illness.
