The two met at drama school and have been inseparable on and off screen ever since
Stephen Graham is a national institution as far as I’m concerned. Even before he wowed us all once again in Adolescence for Netflix this year – which he also wrote and produced – you just know if he’s attached to a project he’s going to give it his all. I’ve seen murmurs online of “Stephen Graham played his role again” and I don’t give a toss. Stephen Graham is part of the TV furniture, and wherever he is you’ll usually also find his wife Hannah Walters along for the ride. The two have one of the most wholesome and love filled marriages in the industry, and she joined him producing and starring in Adolescence too. Here’s all you need to know for a peek inside the heartwarming life of Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters.
They met at drama school
Stephen and Hannah met at Rose Bruford drama school – where they were initially pals but their relationship blossomed into something more. Stephen said in 2018 “We were bezzie mates. Which is the best way, isn’t it? After a while, we just thought, ‘This is daft’, do you know what I mean? ‘We like each other, we should get together’.”
Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters’ romantic life wasn’t instant plain sailing, though. They nearly didn’t make it because Hannah was moving to Spain. Stephen Graham said on Desert Island Discs “She went to Spain for a little bit and I couldn’t see her, and she was going to move out there. She came back and we hadn’t been on a date in these five years, six years, just talking lots. And I said ‘can I take you on a date?’ She went ‘what?’”

The two then watched Saving Private Ryan for their first date and had some food in Greenwich. The rest is obviously history! Now the two of them have two kids, Grace and Alfie, and the family live in Ibstock, Leicestershire.
They star in projects together a lot
They both had roles in This Is England. Then the two went on to both have roles in Boiling Point on TV and the film version. Hannah Walters also stars in Adolescence, as the particularly comforting teacher helping Jade out in the classroom during the emotionally charged second episode.
Stephen and Hannah run a production company together

The two founded Matriarch Productions in 2020. Under this umbrella, the pair produced Boiling Point and also did a music video for Sam Fender.
Hannah helps Stephen out with his dyslexia in this crucial way
Stephen Graham is very open about his dyslexia – and because of it Hannah helps him out in this wholesome way. She helps him decide which scripts and shows he should go for by reading them for him and also helping him learn his lines.
