Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Family Just Got Bigger — Here’s the News
Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s family just grew by one, and they couldn’t be happier.
During a visit to the Hiut Denim factory in Cardigan, Wales, Kate confirmed the couple has welcomed a new addition to their clan, a puppy. PEOPLE Magazine spoke to Hiut’s CEO Johann Von Loeper, who shared the exciting news.
“She had a rather long chat with my fiancĂ©e about our dog, about how she also has cocker spaniels and that hers is the same age as ours,” he explained. “It was a nice moment that broke the ice.”
It was then that the Princess of Wales revealed the newest addition to her family, which includes husband William, and children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The couple added an 8-month old puppy to their busy household.
The new puppy is in addition to their family dog, Orla, who is five. Orla was a gift from Kate’s brother, James Middleton, in 2020. He gifted the pup to his sister after the loss of the couple’s dog, Lupo, that same year.
Orla made her television debut during William’s appearance on the Eugene Levy Apple TV series, The Reluctant Traveler. She greeted the television actor during his visit to Windsor Great Park.
“Who’s this?” Levy asked. William responded, “This is Orla.”
“Oh my goodness, look at you,” Levy exclaimed. “So sweet.”
William said of Orla’s excitement, “She thought it was a walk on. So now she’s thinking about going on a walk.”
Levy surprised the pup with dog treats, but William joked there was a chance she might “reject them.” He added, “It’s a 50/50 call.” The dog ended up enjoying the treats, which thrilled both Levy and the Prince of Wales.
Orla also made an appearance in a 2024 Instagram clip where Kate updated the public on her cancer journey, as well as Princess Charlotte’s birthday photos.
