Princess Kate and Prince William Officially Announce New Family Member
It seems rumors about the royal family welcoming a new member began swirling eons ago. We’ve waited for an official announcement, but they’ve kept things awfully quiet these last several months. According to People, Kate let the news spill during a visit to the Hiut Denim factory in Cardigan on February 3. It’s official, Kate and William got a new dog. No, it’s not a baby, but it’s just as exciting for the couple and their children, who positively adore animals.

Kate and William Have Always Been Dog Lovers
Kate and William had a black cocker spaniel named Lupo, who died in 2020. Then Kate’s brother, James Middleton, gifted them another black cocker spaniel, which they named Orla. While visiting Hiut, Kate had a chance to talk about her love for cocker spaniels.
“She had a rather long chat with my fiancée about our dog, about how she also has cocker spaniels and that hers is the same age as ours,” Hiut CEO Johann Von Loeper told People. “It was a nice moment that broke the ice.”
As Kate fawned over the Loeper’s pup, Barney, she confirmed she and William have a new dog, too.
“So we’ve got a little puppy, he’s only 8 months, and Orla’s 5,” she said.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a sweet photo of Kate with Barney on Instagram.
“What a welcome to @hiutdenim from Barney!” The couple’s caption reads.
Royal enthusiasts loved seeing the photo.
“Sweet Barney! Cocker Spaniel dogs are the sweetest and love to be loved on, and so very loyal! We had our little boy for14 years!!! What a love of a dog!!!” One person wrote.
“Love this bold look. So happy to see her supporting manufacturing,” another shared.
We can’t wait to meet Kate and William’s new dog. We’re sure it’s a pup fit for a king and queen to be.
