Jack P Shepherd dropped a huge David Platt death spoiler live on This Morning – causing one host to gasp over the ‘massive bombshell’ reveal.

The Coronation Street star appeared on the ITV programme hosted by Cat Deeley, 48, and Ben Shephard, 50, as well as soap expert Sharon Marhsall, 53, on Wednesday.

It comes after the hairdresser became embroiled with gangsters after stealing thousands from drug lord Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) last year.

Threatened over paying the money back, David is pushed to the brink and hires a hitman for himself.

However, on This Morning Jack spoke of his character and referred to tonight’s episode as ‘the end’ of his long Coronation Street career.

On This Morning Jack spoke of his character and referred to tonight’s episode as ‘the end’ of his long Coronation Street career

He said: ‘I think he thinks it’s the only way. He’s got into a pickle owing money and Max is now in prison. He feels this is the only way to clear all the debt and his family will be better off without him.’

Looking back at his time on the soap, Jack added, ’25 years, it’s a long time. I think it’s about 25 years next month. It would have been nice to reach that milestone.

‘But sadly tonight’s the end. I’ve loved every minute. I can’t believe we’ve managed to keep it out for so long. I think everybody will enjoy it.’

The hosts gasped and Ben asked, ‘Is tonight the actual end for your character?’

‘Yeah, I can’t believe we’ve managed to keep it out for so long but I think everybody will enjoy it,’ Jack replied.

Sharon looked shocked as she added: ‘Well, it’s… I… I cannot say how it ends tonight. It has been kept under wraps, but you’re definitely not filming today.

‘You have come in on a day that you’re not… he’s not filming on the set at the moment. Those are his clothes, not David’s.’

Ben commented: ‘Has he just given us a massive bombshell?’

Jack, 37, has played David Platt for almost 25 years and in scenes to air this evening, his character will be mowed down by a car.
