Expect high-stakes robbery, shocking betrayals, and twists that will keep you guessing until the very last second. From meticulously planned schemes to heart-pounding escapes, this series proves that crime never sleeps… and neither will you while watching.
If you were fascinated by the recent Louvre heist, this is the thriller you can’t afford to miss.

Lupin takes its name and premise from the Arsène Lupin stories by Maurice Leblanc, to the point where protagonist Assane Diop (Omar Sy) models himself after the gentleman thief. There’s more to Assane’s approach than just a cool aesthetic. After his father, Babakar, was framed and left to die in prison by the wealthy Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre), Assane seeks to bring Pellegrini down.
‘Lupin’ Features Daring Heists & Compelling Character Work

Lupin sets its stakes fairly high during its opening episode, which features a major heist at the Lourve. Assand not only charms his way into the Lourve, but he also manages to outwit a group of loan sharks who tried to double-cross him, and gets away with a near-priceless diamond necklace. This is just an example of the thrills that await viewers, as Assand often has to use his wits and his skills to stay ahead of the Pellegrini family and dogged detective Youssef Guédira (Soufiane Guerrab), who’s picked up on the fact that Assand modeled himself after Lupin.
Those issues underline Lupin‘s story, particularly when it comes to Assand’s personal life. His father, a Sengelase man, was sentenced to prison while the wealthy and white Pellegrinis continued to rake in their fortune. On top of that, Assand also has his estranged wife Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and his son Raoul to look after; Raoul’s kidnapping drives Part 2 of Lupin, resulting in a bittersweet moment where Assand has to go on the run to protect his family. These stakes separate Lupin from other heist stories, and make it more than worth a watch.
‘Lupin’ Became One of Netflix’s Biggest International Hits
When Lupin first premiered on Netflix in 2021, it was a smash hit. Not only did Lupin rival Bridgerton in viewership numbers, but for a time, it was the most watched series on Netflix. It also cracked the International Top 10 Netflix List when Part 3 premiered in 2023. Critical reception was also glowing, praising Sy’s “magnetic” performance and the way that the series flowed like a feature film, rather than a TV series.
Lupin is available to stream on Netflix.
