Netflix’s ‘Yellowstone’ Replacement Series Loses Two Major Stars Ahead of Season 2

Netflix’s breakout romance drama Ransom Canyon will be down two faces when it returns for Season 2. A new report reveals that Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner have departed the series for undisclosed reasons. The two played the father-son duo in the series, also starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. Macken played Davis Colin, while Liner played his son Reid. Both characters were deeply involved in the events portrayed in the series, being integral to the community’s fabric. On the romance side of things, the characters were involved in various love triangles, a staple of the show. It’s unclear how they intend to be written out and whether replacements are being considered.

The ten-episode first season premiered on April 17 and quickly took over the streaming platform, spending four weeks on the Global Top 10 chart. The show was quickly renewed for a second season, which also included the addition of Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) and Heidi Engerman (Candyman) to the cast. “Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride,” showrunner and creator April Blair said in a statement when the renewal was announced. The official series synopsis reads:

Welcome to Ransom Canyon, where love, loss, and loyalty collide beneath the crimson mesas of Texas Hill Country. With three ranching family dynasties locked in a contest for control of the land, their lives and legacies are threatened by outside forces intent on destroying their way of life. At the center of it all is stoic rancher Staten Kirkland (Duhamel), who is healing from heartbreaking loss and on a quest for vengeance. Staten’s only glimmer of hope rests in the eyes and heart of Quinn O’Grady (Kelly), longtime family friend and owner of the local dancehall. But as the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past. Vise tightening, Staten fights to protect the land he calls home, and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him.

What to Expect in ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2

The Season 1 finale left some unanswered questions and cliffhangers that perfectly set up the next chapter of this story. Quinn and Staten had just gotten together before she was forced to make a choice that could affect their future. Will she move to New York to save her business or stay with Staten? What does the woman who shows up at the end of the season, claiming to be Yancy’s (Jack Schumacher) wife, mean for his relationship with Ellie (Marianly Tejada)?
