Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 is dropping soon — but fans are left with 6 burning questions that demand answers. From mysterious new characters to shocking twists, the countdown to the finale is filled with secrets no one expected. Ready to uncover what’s next?👇

fter binge-watching the first four episodes of Wednesday Season 2, I can’t help but ask some questions. Firstly, the final episode and the reveal of the Avian Outcast felt a bit rushed and incomplete, that it made me feel like there’s more to that. The reveal that LOIS is an acronym for Long-term Outcast Integration Study also felt a bit too quick; I have a lot of questions about it, really.

While we wait for September 3rd to see the continuation of the season—something Netflix has been doing more and more—there will still be these questions I have from Wednesday Season 2, Part 1, that I need answered. I’m confident they will be answered, but here’s hoping it’ll be more than worth the wait.

6Will We See Augustus Stonehurst’s Daughter Again?

In Season 2, Episode 4, “If These Woes Could Talk,” a lot is already revealed, and I’m quite surprised. I was convinced we’d learn about the Avian Outcast much later in the season, but we finally learned that the person who’s been terrorizing Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and her friends with a murder of crows is none other than the second-in-command at the Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, Judi Spannegel (Heather Matarazzo). Spannegel turns out to be Augustus Stonehurst’s (Philip Philmar) daughter, and the successor to the LOIS program that Stonehurst pioneered.

She reveals that Stonehurst was a Normie who envied Outcasts for their powers and abilities, so he kidnapped and faked the deaths of several Nevermore Academy students in order to experiment on them. Spannegel then explains she was a volunteer for her father to experiment on her and turn her into the first Normie-turned-Outcast. Fester (Fred Armisen) and Wednesday release the confined Outcasts, and they attack Spannegel. This concludes this entire scene, which somehow feels rushed. Will we see Spannegel again? She must have a bigger role than thus far, considering she’s been masterminding a very evil experiment for years. Hopefully, Part 2 resolves that for us a little bit more, otherwise LOIS and the Avian Outcast would have been just a side story that occupied the entire first part of the season, leaving little space to resolve other things.

5What Is Principle Dort’s Deal?

Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi) seems dorky and ambitious, but there is a lot he also seems to be hiding. When Bianca (Joy Sunday) and Ajax (Georgie Farmer) rescue Bianca’s mother (Gracy Goldman) from the police station, they overhear Dort making a phone call, dodgily talking about the school. Dort also uses Bianca’s siren song, forcing her to sway Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) to gather donations for the school from her estranged mother, and has a competitive streak against the scouts when the school goes on a camping trip. Dort is a pyrokinetic Outcast and seems to really enjoy being one, but he might be working for someone a lot more powerful. It’s either that, or he has personal ambitions that are borderline corrupt.

Dort may not even have a deal. Maybe he’s just trying his best to be a worthy principal of a prestigious academy, driving forward more pledges and donations to keep the school spirit and legacy alive. He mentions the poor work his predecessor, Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie), did with a lot of the school, and he vows to make it better, making him probably just a proud alumnus. Though that seems a bit unlikely considering the hidden elements in every character in Wednesday, still, sometimes a character will just be everything they are shown to be, without hidden agendas. Hopefully, Dort turns out to be an ally, since it seems Wednesday lacks those at Nevermore at the moment.

4How Will Enid Die (and Will She)?

A big part of Wednesday’s reason for finding the Avian Outcast and solving the major murder mystery afoot is the vision she has of Enid’s (Emma Myers) tombstone. The voices in the vision blame her, and Wednesday wishes to prevent the untimely death of her dormmate and best friend at Nevermore. Enid is a fan favorite, especially because of how opposite she is to Wednesday, and how beautifully their friendship works, so it’s highly unlikely she’ll die. Or is it? We’re still not sure how she will die or if she will; maybe it has nothing to do with Wednesday, and she just had a vision of Enid’s fate later on in life. She loses the ability of clairvoyance after this vision, so was that actually a sign about Wednesday herself, rather than Enid?

Just in case Enid does die, it would be interesting to see how that fits into the narrative of Season 2. The Avian has been uncovered, though Hyde (Hunter Doogan) is on the loose once again; there’s even a brain-eating zombie running out and about, so there are plenty of things that could still go wrong. Also, in the short preview for Season 2, Part 2, Enid seems to have trouble with her wolf powers; will that affect her destiny somehow? Either way, here’s hoping Enid’s just fine at the end of the season, and she can return to Season 3, once again.

3Is the Man With the Mechanical Heart Relevant?

When Ajax tells the story of a man who made himself a mechanic heart and died under the skull tree, Wednesday’s little brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), goes to the skull tree to find him. However, he trips and lets out a jolt of electricity into the ground, accidentally waking up the man with the mechanical heart. The man is a zombie now, and with each consumed brain, he regrows body parts and skin and becomes complete again. At the end of Season 2, Part 1, he shows up in front of Augustus Stonehurst and says something like, “Hello, old friend.” Stonehurst obviously knows who it is, but is the man really relevant to the entire story? There’s definitely a lot more to learn about Stonehurst himself, and the man with the mechanical heart might be a way to do it.

In the Season 2, Part 2, preview, we see the man—whom Pugsley funnily named Slurp—walking around in almost complete human form. Does he know anything about the LOIS program? Will he uncover more secrets of experimentation done on the Outcasts, and will he come to Wednesday’s or Pugsley’s aid when they need it? He might help Pugsley, who revived him, after all; or, maybe he has a vendetta and wants to exact it on someone currently at Nevermore. There are still lots of questions revolving the relevance of Slurp, aka, the Man With the Mechanical Heart, and it’s exciting to see how his appearance and existence tie into the narrative overall. He may be one of the future recurring characters, too, and become a huge part of the Wednesday lore.

2Who Is the New Music Teacher, Isadora Capri?

Speaking of mysterious new faculty members, who is Isadora Capri (Billie Piper)? The new Nevermore music teacher is jittery when the moon is full, which shouldn’t faze many of Nevermore’s alums; half of them are proudly werewolves. She appears out of nowhere, has red hair—like Marylin Thornhill (Christina Ricci)—and seems to be looking over her shoulder constantly. At first thought, she was the obvious suspect for the Avian Outcast, considering little is known about her, and the Avian was once present at the school. She approaches Wednesday casually, criticizing her cello playing, and appears out of breath when Wednesday chases the Avian across the school. If she was not the one to control the crows, I can’t help but wonder what her deal might be.

Capri may be connected to older faculty members somehow, whether it’s Thornhill or Larissa Weems, the shapeshifting Nevermore principal before Dort. Weems appears to be dead, but could Capri actually be her, undercover? If you remember Season 1, Weems was injected by Thornhill, and killed, but maybe she somehow survived that attack, retreated, and returned to take revenge on Wednesday. This seems unlikely, though, and Capri may just be related to someone like Weems or Thornhill, seeking revenge for their destinies. There was some expectation, not to say hope, that Capri could be an ally to Wednesday, and hopefully, she turns out to be in Season 2, Part 2.

1What Really Happened to Wednesday’s Aunt Ophelia?

After Wednesday loses the power of clairvoyance, she tries to retrieve it with the help of her ancestor Goody Addams’ spell book. However, her mother Morticia bans her from using the book, burning it in a fireplace after a discussion with her mother, and after winning a blind fencing duel against Wednesday. The reason Morticia is so against Wednesday getting her powers back is, simply put, her maternal instinct. She wants her daughter to be safe from harm and not put herself in danger’s way so much anymore. Though some dark hobbies and interests are fine, Wednesday seems to be playing with forces much darker than she can handle all by herself.

Another reason Morticia is so protective over Wednesday is the fate of her sister, Ophelia. They mention her several times, and Wednesday learns from Fester that Ophelia was sent to the Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital after becoming overwhelmed by her psychic abilities, which she shares with Wednesday. They both experienced black tears running from their eyes after certain visions, which seemingly drove Ophelia to Willow Hill. Maybe not mad, but she still ended up there. Furthermore, at the end of Season 2, Part 1, Wednesday and Fester release the captive Outcasts of the LOIS program, and Wednesday rescues one quiet woman, played by Frances O’Connor, who wasn’t as aggressive as the others. There’s a high chance that it is Ophelia and that she’s still alive. Morticia only mentions Ophelia as “having been missing for 20 years,” so death isn’t the only option there. Ophelia is certainly a major part of the Addams Family lore, so it’ll be exciting to see who she is, whether she’s the female prisoner or not.
