Nancy Guthrie Investigation: New Video Reveals Man With Similar Backpack Near Scene

Abreaking lead in the search for Nancy Guthrie is now being investigated as authorities continue looking for the 84-year-old nearly two weeks after she went missing from her Catalina Foothills home on Feb. 1.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, TMZ reported on a new surveillance video of a man wearing a similar backpack and disguise as the alleged suspect. In the video, the person is seen trying to unlock one of Nancy’s neighbor’s gates at 1:52 AM, located just 5 miles from Nancy’s residence. Footage of the incident was captured on the resident’s Ring camera and later shared with investigators.

In the press conference held last Thursday, Feb. 5, Sheriff Chris Nanos and FBI Phoenix Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke gave a detailed timeline of Nancy’s disappearance. During which, it was confirmed that Nancy’s Nest camera disconnected at 1:47 AM. Minutes later, at 2:12 AM, the software detected a person in its range.

The person seen in the new surveillance video shared with authorities has a timestamp of them leaving the scene at the neighbor’s home at 1:53 AM, minutes before Nancy’s Nest camera detected someone on her property. TMZ reported that if this is the kidnapper, who approached both her neighbor’s residence and her home, they would have had 19 minutes between the time a person was detected on the software at Nancy’s house and the footage captured from a nearby neighbor.

FBI Is ‘Lasering in’ on Man From Neighbor’s Ring Camera Video

The person in the obtained video is seen wearing a similar disguise as the person seen in footage and images from Nancy’s home, which was shared with the public by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, Feb. 10. TMZ reported that Nancy’s kidnapper was wearing a Walmart Ozark Trail Hiker backpack, which authorities have now confirmed. The outlet, however, stated that it is “unclear if the reflectors are on the shoulder straps or the side of the backpack” in the new footage.

TMZ reported that the FBI is now “lasering in on the man in the video” and actively looking into other leads.

Just moments before the neighbor’s surveillance footage was shared with the public, Nancy’s daughter Savannah Guthrie shared a video on Instagram of her beloved mom. She captioned the post, detailing the dedication she will continue to have in finding Nancy.

“our lovely mom. 💛 we will never give up on her. thank you for your prayers and hope,” Savannah wrote.

On Wednesday, Feb. 11, the NYP reported that a black glove had been found in shrubbery near the scene at Nancy’s home. The glove resembles the same glove worn by the abductor detected on Nancy’s Nest camera. Although authorities detained one man in the investigation of Nancy’s abduction, that person was soon released after he was found not responsible for her disappearance, TMZ reported.
