Now on Netflix: 10 TV Show Love Triangles to Watch if You Loved My Life With the Walter Boys 💔✨

Messy romances, shocking twists, and heartbreaks that keep you hooked — these shows deliver the same addictive chaos and swoon-worthy drama that made Walter Boys a hit.

Joey, Pacey, and Dawson in a Love Triangle from Dawson's Creek

My Life With The Walter Boys follows Jackie’s life after the tragic and unexpected deaths of her older sister and parents. Due to her mother’s will, Jackie is forced to move away from her home in New York City and her uncle to live with her mother’s best friend and her family in Colorado. The Walters have many kids, mostly boys, all stuck in the same house together.

For the most part, the love triangle between Jackie, Alex, and Cole is fairly surface-level as My Life With The Walter Boys never really gives it a heavy substance to hold on to. Jackie bounces between them constantly as she tries to work out her feelings. But, if this love triangle was truly an attention-grabber, there are many others that go even deeper into the emotions and conflicts that come with love triangles.

10The Vampire Diaries – Elena, Stefan, and Damon

The Vampire Diaries follows orphaned human teenager Elena Gilbert, and her discovering what it means to live again when she meets vampire Stefan Salvatore. However, discovering Stefan and his brother Damon are vampires is just the beginning of the very long supernatural drama and chaos that unfolds in Mystic Falls. While Elena, her friends, and her family must constantly protect each other and the town from supernaturals coming to town, The Vampire Diaries was also very well known for its central love triangle.

Elena Struggled to Pick Between the Salvatore Brothers

Although Elena began the series dating Stefan, The Vampire Diaries plants the seed of the love triangle between Stefan, Elena, and Damon as early as the first season. Initially, while Elena fights an attraction to Damon, she still feels a connection to Stefan. But, the more they go through, the more Elena struggles to really make a decision. Stefan and Damon seesaw their way through good and bad days, leaving Elena in a whirlwind of trying to figure out who the “good brother” that week is.

Jackie, like Elena, struggled to choose between two brothers, where one was considered good while the other was severely problematic. Given that The Vampire Diaries lasted eight seasons, with Elena at the center for six, there are plenty more opportunities to become engrossed in the complicated relationships that all three characters have, as falling for the same girl also places Stefan and Damon in the troubling position of fighting while growing closer.

9Bridgerton – Anthony, Kate, and Edwina

Bridgerton enamors audiences with the love story of each Bridgerton sibling. The first season followed how Daphne’s fake dating affair turned into a legitimate marriage. Season two portrayed a love triangle where Anthony must make a decision between two sisters as to which will be his wife. Although Anthony is welcoming to both women, ultimately, only one is a clear match for him.

Anthony Struggles to Match with Duty or Passion

Edwina is exactly what Anthony is looking for, but Kate is what he needs. Anthony and Kate’s feelings for each other become clear to everyone once it is out in the open, and even Daphne recognizes the signs beforehand. Anthony’s decision to enter the marriage market and take looking for a wife seriously had him connect with Edwina. She is younger than him but exhibits exactly what he believes he is looking for in a future marriage. But, his strong connection with Kate keeps coming back to bite him, no matter how hard he tries to ignore it.

Just like how Jackie can not fight her feelings for Cole throughout the first season, ultimately, Anthony must give in to the overwhelming emotions he has toward Kate.

8Dawson’s Creek – Joey, Pacey, and Dawson

Dawson’s Creek was a day-in-the-life drama about Dawson Leery, an aspiring director, and his closest friends. However, what is a teen drama without a massive love story at the center? Dawson’s Creek expands beyond the initially predictable romance between Dawson and Joey to create an even more exciting triangle once Pacey is added to the mix.

Their Childhood Friendship Raises the Stakes For All of Them

This love triangle has many complicated elements, though. Not only does Joey struggle to figure out which of her closest friends is the one she truly romantically loves, but Pacey and Dawson’s friendship, which had once made them as close as brothers, hits many roadblocks and suffers due to them falling for the same girl. Their relationships will never be the same as they recognize the interconnected paths that have brought them all together.

Ultimately, Joey must decide which, if either of them, is the one who makes her genuinely happy and who she wants to be with. Still, this love triangle is not without consequences for all their friendships. Jackie’s feelings for Alex and Cole highlight a rivalry that already exists between the two brothers. But, when Jackie decides to run after kissing Cole while still being with Alex, sets things up to potentially get far messier for Alex and Cole’s relationship after they have started the healing process.

7Grey’s Anatomy – Addison, Derek, and Meredith

Grey’s Anatomy initially introduces a difficult love story for Meredith and Derek when Meredith discovers that the random man she had slept with the night before was also an Attending at the hospital where she works as an Intern. Grey’s Anatomy, going on twenty seasons, has captured the world’s attention with its dramatic storylines, massive cliffhangers, and intriguing and catastrophic romances.

Addison Stirs Things Up for Meredith and Derek

Ultimately, it was Derek’s own fault for not telling Meredith that he was still legally married when they met. Derek spends the entire first season pursuing Meredith, even after she tells him no, only for it to be revealed that Derek was being completely dishonest the entire time. Addison’s arrival is not only an iconic moment for the series, but it also leads to a lot of exciting drama. Meredith is horrified that Derek is married. Addison’s arrival is followed by Mark Sloan’s, leaving Derek to deal with the fallout of his escape from both of them previously.

Derek’s choice to give his marriage with Addison another shot only to ignore her at every possible opportunity and focus primarily on his jealousy towards Meredith moving on from him all play a role in how season two sets up the dynamics later on. Addison even appears in Grey’s Anatomy episodes after Derek’s death and portrays how she and Meredith turn out to become friends even after the initial chaos following their first meeting.

6Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – Sabrina, Harvey, and Nick

Sabrina Spellman is half-witch and half-mortal, growing up at the point in her life where she must start leaning more into her witch side than the mortal life she had. As Sabrina must sign her mortal life away when she inscribed the Book of the Beast, Sabrina initially refuses, and attends the Academy of Unseen Arts while latching hard onto her mortal life.

Harvey and Nick Represent Two Different Parts of Sabrina’s Life

Harvey is Sabrina’s human boyfriend. They have been happy in their relationship by the time the series starts, and Harvey is kind and supportive of Sabrina. However, he does not know the truth about what Sabrina really is until later. Meanwhile, Nick is mysterious and a witch, which allows Sabrina to bond with him about the magical part of her life.

Even though Harvey and Nick do start experiencing both parts of Sabrina’s life, they also represent the mortal world that Sabrina is being pulled away from and the experience of witchcraft that she is growing closer to. In Jackie’s case, while her circumstances with Alex and Cole are not quite symbolic, she is placed in a situation where she is met by Alex, who makes himself a clear supporter toward her, and Cole, who comes with a sense of mystery and danger about the unknown.

5Never Have I Ever – Devi, Ben, and Paxton

Devi’s life is a coming-of-age story in Never Have I Ever, as she works to get past the grief following her father’s unexpected and tragic death. To help her move on, Devi latches onto her crush on Paxton, the popular boy at school. However, Ben, her academic rival, ends up becoming just as intriguing to Devi. Never Have I Ever has plenty of heart in its comedy, friendships, familial bonds, and romances.

Devi Questions What She Truly Likes About Ben and Paxton

After kissing each of the boys and wondering what to do next, Devi makes a list of positive attributes each boy has. While Paxton is a kind person, most of what attracts Devi to him is his looks. Meanwhile, Devi’s list for Ben is more focused on his personality. While all three of them grow exponentially throughout the series, Devi must allow herself to see Paxton for who he is, rather than the pedestal he has been placed on.

Allowing Devi the opportunity to be with both of them allows her the chance to experience what she needs to in order to understand her feelings towards both of them, in a way for all of them to come out of this as friends on good terms.

4One Tree Hill – Lucas, Peyton, and Brooke

One Tree Hill makes the stand early on that plenty of the show’s central plot surrounds the drastically different upbringings between half-brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott. While Nathan grew up constantly pressured by his father, Dan, but with his parents together and rich, Lucas was raised by his single mother, Karen, his Uncle Keith, and significantly less financially well off.

Lucas Can’t Make Up His Mind About Peyton and Brooke

Even though Nathan is initially meant to be the playboy, it is he who ends up in a successful early marriage with Hayley, while Lucas bounces back and forth between Peyton, whom he finds a connection with immediately, and her best friend, who deserves better, Brooke. Lucas breaks up with Brooke twice to be with Peyton, which clearly shows that Lucas is either very indecisive or just refuses to accept what he really wants.

Peyton and Brooke’s friendship becomes a roller coaster ride as they try to value their friendship above Lucas’ inability to make a steady decision about each of them. Jackie is similar to Lucas, as she seemingly cannot make a steady decision about Cole or Alex, even after she starts dating Alex. Although Jackie and Alex are in a relationship, there are still far too many romantic moments between her and Cole that show that Jackie never really let Cole go.

3Friends – Ross, Rachel, and Joey

Friends followed the lives of six close friends in New York City. Along the show’s 10-year journey, the group undergoes many obstacles in life and relationships before ultimately landing in a place that suggests that things will be better for all of them as the series ends. Among the main group, Rachel’s on-again,off-again will-they-won’t-they relationship with Ross was a central plot line.

Rachel’s Romance with Joey Could Have Ended Trouble with Ross

Even though Friends suggests that Rachel and Ross were happy as the final credits rolled, audiences, especially years after the show ended, seem to disagree. Instead, viewers have either suggested that Rachel should have gone to Paris alone, or, if she really needed to have a love interest, that she should have ended up with Joey.

While the love triangle element between the three of them does not last long, had Rachel and Joey been given a real shot, rather than being written to fail, Joey showed his willingness to be a true partner to Rachel, and as she had feelings for him. He was there for her pregnancy, showing constant support even after Emma was born. Although bringing Rachel and Ross back together was a way to bring the series full circle, Friends had even acknowledged earlier in season ten that it had been so long since Ross and Rachel had dated and that it was time to move on.

2Gilmore Girls – Rory, Dean, and Jess

Gilmore Girls was mostly about the mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai and Rory. The two women are each other’s best friends and are shown to have a particularly strong bond. But, Gilmore Girls also focused heavily on Rory’s love life. By the final season, Rory had three main love interests, Dean, Jess, and Logan. But, only Rory’s struggle to pick between Dean and Jess was one of the biggest parts of the show.

Rory Was Faced with a Dull Boyfriend Vs. a Compelling Love Interest

Although Dean was initially meant to be a good boyfriend, even if he was suggested to be a bit of a bad boy at first, things took a dive for him when the series introduced Jess. Jess was the more successful version of what Gilmore Girls wanted Dean to be, while Dean transformed into a sexist, possessive, and problematic boyfriend. Where Dean was boring, Jess had charisma, and it was predictable to see where this love triangle would eventually end up going.

Even though Rory did not end up with either of them, Gilmore Girls still made a much more compelling case for enjoying seeing Jess on screen rather than Dean.

1Stranger Things – Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve

Stranger Things shows the dangers of Hawkins as the Upside Down becomes a constant threat to Eleven and the rest of the town. Trying to take down whichever villain comes next, the kids of Hawkins must band together to figure out what is going on, why, and how to defeat it. But, while the younger kids are usually at the center of the mayhem, the older teenagers and young adults also have a way of getting involved in the mysteries of the town’s most dangerous secrets.

Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve Grow Beyond Their Initial Issues

While romance is not the main plot here, the show initially introduces a love triangle between bullying Steve, Nancy, and stalker Jonathan. While Jonathan is still considered to be the better guy between him and Steve, that perspective starts to change once Steve becomes friends with Dustin and the rest of the group. As the series continued, Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan have all grown.

However, season four shows how much Steve has grown, while Jonathan is now the one who may need to catch up a bit. Season four had Steve and Nancy in close quarters the entire time, while Jonathan was separated in a going-nowhere plot and lying to Nancy constantly.
