Now on Netflix + HBO: Eric Bana steps into the dark with a gripping True Detective replacement that’s already scoring 77% on Rotten Tomatoes and topping charts worldwide
In a role that redefines brooding brilliance, Bana delivers a haunting performance that cements this crime series as a must-watch global sensation

Created by screenwriting duo Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) and Elle Smith, Untamed is set against the rugged backdrop of Yosemite National Park. The series centers on Kyle Turner (Bana), a special agent with the National Park Service’s Investigative Services Branch. Still reeling from the recent loss of his young son, Turner is pulled into a murder investigation when an unidentified corpse is discovered deep within the park grounds. He’s forced to team up with a green rookie from the NPS, and together they must navigate a trail of secrets and personal demons.
Critically, Untamed made a strong first impression. It debuted with a certified fresh 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes from professional reviewers, accompanied by a stellar 88% audience rating on the Popcornmeter. As more feedback rolled in, the numbers adjusted slightly, settling at 77% from critics and 71% from audiences, still comfortably within “certified fresh” territory. The show’s moody cinematography and minimalist dialogue have been widely praised.
What Else Is Trending on Netflix Right Now?
Hot on the heels of Untamed, both in the global and US rankings, is Amy Bradley Is Missing, a new true-crime documentary series that’s quickly capturing audience interest. The Sandman recently returned strong with Season 2, and it’s no surprise that it is in the top 10 among global audiences. However, in the US rankings, the third and fourth spots are firmly occupied by Sullivan’s Crossing, a new arrival on Netflix that is being touted as a Virgin River replacement, though rather than a replacement, both shows will co-exist together following Virgin River‘s renewal for Season 8, even before Season 7 arrives. Also, Sullivan’s Crossing, which quickly became an audience favorite, has recently been renewed for Season 4. Rounding out the Top 10 is Squid Game‘s divisive third and final season, as well as the crime drama, The Waterfront, starring Holt McCallany and Melissa Benoist.
