Now on Netflix: Wednesday & Enid’s picture-perfect bond takes a chilling turn in Season 2 — and it’s not the reunion shippers were hoping for

Tensions simmer as secrets wedge their way between the once inseparable duo, blurring the line between loyalty and betrayal. Every shared glance hides a story, and every silence feels like the calm before the storm.

Netflix has now released Wednesday season 2, part 1, but not every fan of the series will be happy about Wednesday and Enid’s relationship in the new season. Following the ending of Wednesday season 1, the titular character has returned to the Nevermore Academy with a new mystery to solve and surprising new popularity.

At the same time, the Addams Family is more present than ever, and Wednesday introduces several new outcast species to expand the show’s world even further. While all these changes do add something great to the series, Wednesday and Enid’s relationship is one place where Wednesday season 2 has stayed the same.

Wednesday & Enid Are Still Only Friends In Season 2

The Pair Has No Romantic Connection

When Wednesday and Enid were first introduced in Wednesday, their golden retriever and black cat dynamic was immediately picked up on by fans. The two roommates are complete opposites, but they somehow work perfectly together, prompting some fans to become hopeful that they would end up together.

Throughout season 1, both Wednesday and Enid have their own romantic interests (though Wednesday’s love interest, Tyler Galpin, ends up being the Hyde), so they never see each other as more than friends. Sadly for audiences hoping for more chemistry between the two, Wednesday and Enid’s dynamic remains the same in season 2.

After everything that the pair went through in season 1, Wednesday and Enid go into season 2 as a stronger pairing than ever. Both teenagers are secure in their status as best friends, despite being on different paths. While the opposites attract dynamic can be a fascinating one to watch in TV relationships, it seems that may not be in the cards for Wednesday.

How Wednesday & Enid’s Friendship Has Changed In Season 2

Both Teenagers Are Focused On Their Own Concerns

Wednesday and Enid are both a bit older in Wednesday season 2, so naturally, they have changed and progressed a bit as characters. As a result, their friendship has changed as well, and while they remain committed to each other, they do have more of a divide than in season 1.

On Wednesday’s side, her vision of Enid’s death is a primary driving factor for the character this season. She is worried about her friend and fears that anything that happens to Enid could be her fault. While she is distancing herself from Enid, Wednesday is also turning to Agnes to help solve the avian mystery, making Enid feel left out.

Any potential for a romantic connection between Enid and Wednesday in season 2 is also hindered by Enid’s new love triangle. After beginning to date Ajax in season 1, Enid develops feelings for Bruno in season 2. Throughout Wednesday season 2, part 1, Enid struggles to understand her feelings for the two boys, separating her from Wednesday.
