While DC fans now have a whole new era of film and television content to look forward to as James Gunn pushes forward with his revamped DC Universe, many viewers continue to mourn the loss of the franchise’s first major interconnected television universe. However, two new shows are proving that the former faces of the Arrowverse continue to draw viewers.
Countdown & The Waterfront Both Feature Arrowverse Cast Members
Prime Video’s & Netflix’s New Crime Dramas Feature Some Familiar Faces

Currently sitting in the Top 10 charts for their respective streaming services, Prime Video and Netflix, both Countdown and The Waterfront feature actors who would be familiar to any Arrowverse fans. Joining Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles in his new crime drama, Countdown, are two former cast members from The Flash, Jessica Camacho and Violett Beane.
Camacho, who plays Countdown’s DEA agent Amber Oliveras, first joined The Flash as the Earth-19 bounty hunter Gypsy in season 3 and would eventually embark on a long-distance relationship with Carlos Valdes’s Vibe. While Beane, who plays FBI agent Evan Shepherd, played Earth-2’s Jesse Wells AKA Jesse Quick.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s The Waterfront boasts an Arrowverse Kryptonian in the form of Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist. Playing a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, Benoist’s latest role is a major departure from her previous costumed crime-fighting exploits.
Why Countdown & The Waterfront Are Worth Watching For Arrowverse Fans
The Supergirl and Flash Stars Get A Chance To Flex Their Acting Muscles

Having played Kara Zor-El for all of Supergirl’s six seasons, it may be hard for many Arrowverse fans to see Supergirl herself tackle a grittier and deeply flawed character in the form of Bree Buckley. Intelligent, but hot-tempered and struggling to maintain her sobriety, Benoist’s new Netflix character showcases her flexibility as a performer and allows viewers to see her in an entirely different light.
As for Countdown’s own Arrowverse alumna, it also offers viewers a chance to see both Camacho and Beane bring their crime-fighting experience to a world without costumed superheroics. Moreover, it also places them directly opposite Ackles, who for many years was also a fan-favorite pick to play Batman within the Arrowverse.
While these new shows may offer a very different kind of viewing experience from the pulp appeal of both The Flash and Supergirl, these latest streaming offerings continue to offer fans a chance to reconnect with several of their former Arrowverse favorites.
