As their relationship grows, so does Craig’s obsession with Austin. Their new friendship soon threatens to ruin both of their lives.

The cast is lead by comedian and Netflix star Tim Robinson who plays Craig, while Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd takes on the role of his neighbour Austin. Also appearing is Kate Mara from House of Cards, as Craig’s wife.

Friendship is penned and directed by Andrew DeYoung, marking his feature debut. The filmmaker has previously worked on shorts and TV shows including Our Flag Means Death, The Decameron and Miracle Workers, to name a few.

The film boasts an 88% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes and has been a hit with many fans. Even though some admit that the movie might not be for everyone.

A reviewer described the film as “a cringe comedy masterpiece.” One person, sharing their thoughts online said: “From the opening scene to the closing credits, Friendship is a cinematic triumph that truly lives up to its name. This film isn’t just a feel-good story; it’s a profound and hilarious exploration of the bonds that connect us. The chemistry between the two leads is an absolute joy to watch.

Another added: “I couldn’t stop laughing throughout Friendship! From start to finish, it had the kind of humor that just hits right—genuine, clever, and totally unforced. The story was not only hilarious but also surprisingly heartfelt and original. It’s rare to find a comedy that feels this fresh and still delivers an emotional punch.”

Tim Robinson is known for his Netflix sketch show I Think You Should Leave and some believe viewers need to be a fan of that show to truly enjoy the film. As one person suggested: “The movie is an absolute comedic masterpiece, but it’s not for everyone. You’ll have to have an acquired taste in comedy and be a huge fan of I Think You Should Leave to understand just how brilliant it is.”

They continued: “If ITYSL isn’t for you, then you’ll probably struggle to find it that that funny. It’s been a long time since I watched a comedy that was full of laugh out loud moments non stop. Tim Robinson’s portrayal of a socially awkward guy trying to navigate a new painfully awkward accidental friendship is brilliant.”
