Rachel Zegler’s very first full post firmly declared that no one could be Snow White except her: “A true Disney princess”

The video for powerful ballad ‘Waiting on a Wish’ gives us more fairy-tale visuals too, including more looks at Snow White’s potential prince.

The vocals cannot be denied: Rachel Zegler is a real Disney Princess. Just listen to the first single from Snow White.

The star’s musical performances as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes were just warm-ups. Disney’s live-action adaptation of its animated classic, directed by The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Marc Webb, gives us “Waiting on a Wish,” a powerful ballad sung by Zegler and written by The Greatest Showman’s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. And it has us excited for more.

The original Snow White only had six songs. The writing duo expands on that with Snow White’s new song, which is inspired by “I’m Wishing” but comes out of the gate with a empowered swell of magic.

Listen to “Waiting on a Wish” below, with an accompanying video that also gives audiences a first look at the movie’s stunning, dreamy cottage-core fantasy in live action, an apt homage to the original fairytale picture that built Walt’s kingdom. And yes, Snow White’s potential prince does show up with a tease at a kiss, proving the film isn’t holding back on the romance. And we’re so relieved and happy to see it.

Can we talk about how the visuals suggest there’s so much the film is going to explore beyond the animated classic? We love seeing the glimpses of Snow White’s family bonds, the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot) looking truly downright deliciously malicious, and more of the mysterious possible prince figure. If they’re building up to a kiss, we’ll allow it as long as makes sense for the story—and as long as there was consent at some point before she bites it (the apple).

This “I want” song is a strong indicator that the Snow White music is going to cook. We’ll be listening to “Waiting on a Wish” over and over until more tracks are revealed. The romance girlies have had a drought of a new classic Disney duet so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a new version of a “One Song” type of track.
