Cowboy boots and Western music are taking over Netflix, and there is no shame in that. Ransom Canyon is Netflix’s new hit show, in which unhinged political scams and family feuds meet deeply romantic and, yes, slightly toxic love triangles in a small Western town with a lot of heart. As a mix of Yellowstone‘s gripping Western vibes, Virgin River‘s dynamics, and, surprisingly, some Bridgerton and Friday Night Lights energy, Ransom Canyon is a must-watch series for lovers of vast lands and intricate relationships. The streaming platform bestowed its subscribers with one of the best new comfort shows out there, taking them to a romance-fueled small town in the Texas Hill Country. Sure, there is bad boy Yancy Grey, who is shirtless for what feels like the majority of the drama series, but there truly is more to Ransom Canyon than a sweaty, handsome guy on a ranch. From Western music that has you tapping your foot along and a storyline and love triangles that are thought out well for a change, the new Netflix drama is a 10-episode-long joyride. A lot can happen in one season, though, so let’s take a look at the ending of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon.

What Happened with the Davis, Quinn, and Staten Love Triangle?

Ransom Canyon is one of those shows that effortlessly allows every character to take on an important role without overdoing it or losing focus on its actual main characters. Of course, Staten Kirkland, who is brought to life by Josh Duhamel in an outstanding way, is at the center of the series. Then there is Minka Kelly’s Quinn O’Grady, who stood by Staten’s side through all his hardships, and their romantic feelings are undeniable. Just like any great love triangle, Staten’s half-brother (who happens to be his archenemy), Davis Collins (Eoin Macken), also has a thing for Quinn. Because of Staten’s complicated emotional status, Davis and Quinn start dating. Well, that is until Staten confesses his love as well.

Towards the end of the Netflix drama with a divisive Rotten Tomatoes score, Staten and Quinn finally get together, but Staten’s temperament threatens their love. Episode 10 of Ransom Canyon left it off with Davis going his own, twisted way by trying his best to push Staten’s buttons and taking his ranch and land from him. Davis is set on going through with the beneficial deal with Austin Waters & Powers, even though Davis and Staten previously agreed to keep all of their land in the family and name Reid as their heir. The bad blood between them could go many ways, but they probably won’t reach common ground anymore.

Staten and Quinn are left in limbo, as she is willing to temporarily move to New York to earn money as a part of the Philharmonics and save her hometown bar. The last episode involves a pivotal scene in which Staten leaves a wristband that he and Quinn were wearing on the bar counter before disappearing. The gesture certainly means he is ending things, but there are two meanings this could have. Either he is aware that he is dragging her into his emotional mess and hurting her in the process, since he is struggling to navigate his feelings regarding their love and the loss of his son, or he is doing it out of his pain, since she decided to go to New York without consolidating him.

Who Killed Staten’s Son Randall?

After intense investigations involving Reid and Kit, Sheriff Dan Brigman recalled his estranged wife’s prior romantic connection to Kit, which led him to seek out Margaret to discover the truth of what happened that daunting night. Margaret admitted that she was in love with Kit and that the accident was her fault. Considering that she had a strong alcohol problem, she was intoxicated and let Kit help her cover up her crime.

Towards the end of the Western drama, Dan and his colleagues arrest Margaret based on her confession to her husband, even though Kit was willing to take the fall for her. She will likely be sentenced to numerous years in prison, which could be explored in a potential second season of Ransom Canyon. Kit, on the other hand, walked straight out of prison seemingly without any charges, even though he was also involved to some degree. His involvement likely wasn’t enough to charge him, as he solely called Reid to have him ditch the car in a lake.

What Happened Between Reid, Lucas, and Lauren?

Reid said that he and Lauren were meant to be ever since they were kids, but then came Lucas, and the second love triangle of Ransom Canyon commenced. Unfortunately, just like with the love triangle involving Staten, Quinn, and Davis, it involves cheating, and it’s not cute. However, Lauren eventually comes clean, breaks up with Reid, and starts secretly dating Lucas, since her father initially didn’t approve. Reid and Lucas, outside the love triangle with Lauren, went from hated enemies to the best of bros, which is easily one of the best bromances in TV history.

It even goes as far as Reid giving Lucas dating advice, when Lauren suddenly breaks up with Lucas after she is caught up in a world of drama, including injuring her shoulder, losing her chance for a scholarship, and her mother going to jail. While it didn’t seem like it at first in episode 10 of the Western romance series, Lucas and Lauren ended up stronger than ever after his grand romantic gesture, confessing his love on stage. Joining Lauren’s father, even Reid is supportive of Lauren and Lucas’ relationship, ending the first season of this Western drama with love for each other.

What Happened to Yancy Grey and Cap’s Ranch?

Oh boy, when Yancy Grey came to Ransom Canyon, trouble quickly followed him. The bad boy turned good guy certainly did a lot of twisted things. Trying to scam his grandfather (even if Cap didn’t know about their connection) for financial gain is a snarky move. It’s a good thing the equally stunning-looking Ellie came into his life, because she was the reason why he turned everything around. Upon Cap’s passing, Ellie is the one who tells him that he can’t sell the ranch, even though Cap mentioned before that it’s what he would do after he was pressured into it in the first place. Considering how much the ranch meant to Cap and Ellie, and how Yancy wants to honor his deceased family, the two of them living there would be a great outcome.

However, there is a major turn of events in the must-see Western drama series, which could still lead Yancy to sell the ranch and give the money to Ellie and Cap’s wife, Ruth, who suffers from dementia. Cap’s passing brought Ellie and Yancy even closer together, leading Yancy to want to marry her, but the night of the wedding, Ellie unexpectedly crosses paths with a woman who claims to be Yancy’s wife. Trouble yet again. This will undoubtedly stir up a lot of drama, as it took Ellie quite some time to trust Yancy, and he promised her to be an open book. As of the end of Season 1, their future, just like Staten and Quinn’s, is up in the air, but at least it offers exciting ground for a potential Season 2 of Ransom Canyon. Ransom Canyon is available to watch on Netflix.
