As the search for Nancy Guthrie continues, police are eliminating people as potential suspects. We’re into the third week of looking for the 84-year-old mother of three who was reportedly kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Investigators are frantically trying to locate her and bring her home safely.
Police have been sifting through tens of thousands of tips on the matter, while releasing a suspect description last week. Even with that, the FBI and authorities have failed to track down the person or persons who may have been involved. You can chalk off a group of people from the persons of interest list in this case.
Savannah Guthrie’s family are “cleared as possible suspects” in Nancy’s disappearance
Those who may have kidnapped her are still at large, though Savannah Guthrie’s family had nothing to do with it. That’s according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who released a statement Monday. “To be clear … the Guthrie family — to include all siblings and spouses — has been cleared as possible suspects,” it read. Chris adds that Nancy’s family have been nothing but cooperative and gracious throughout this ordeal. He adds that they are victims in this sordid affair.
While none of the Guthrie’s had been officially suspects, there was widespread speculation that someone had played a part. This was partly because Nancy was dropped off at her home by family members on January 31. The following day, she missed her usual church service, ringing alarm bells amongst her loved ones.
DNA was collected, but it did not belong to her family. Authorities are working to determine who it may belong to. Nancy’s blood was discovered at her home, though police aren’t saying where the DNA evidence was found.
Several ransom notes have been sent in this case. Police briefly detained a driver in relation to this matter last week before releasing him. He had no idea who Savannah or Nancy Guthrie were.
