Adolescence has become one of Netflix’s top hits as many are obsessed over the break out star Owen Cooper’s raw talent

British actor Owen Cooper has become an overnight sensation thanks to his starring role in Netflix’s newest series, Adolescence.

Owen’s breakout role, which also marks his acting debut, has earned him much praise, as many fans and even critics have applauded his incredible performance. With so many in awe of Owen’s acting abilities, Adolescence director Philip Barantini took to Instagram to share a clip of the child star’s audition to flaunt the boy’s raw talent. “Owen’s audition tapes for Jamie in Adolescence,” Paul captioned the post, showing the footage of him powerfully performing in an attempt to land the part—which he did.

Shortly after Paul’s post, many fans flooded his comment section, complimenting Owen’s performance in the hit miniseries.

One fan remarked, “Incredible. Such an inspiration for all of us.”

In its short time on Netflix, Adolescence has already become a massive success. According to Variety, the show has garnered 24.3 million views within the first four days, per NDTV.

Week two, Adolescence became the most-watched title on the streamer, gaining another 42 million views in just 11 days, for a total of 66.3 million views.

This means the crime drama is now the most-watched Netflix limited series in a two-week period, per NDTV.

Created by Jack Thorn and Stephen Graham, with Philip as a director, Adolescence has sparked much conversation since its debut.

The series centers around the arrest of a 13-year-old schoolboy, Jamie Miller, whom Owen portrays. Jamie (Owen), is accused of murdering his female classmate.

Many are in awe of this show because each episode is filmed in a single, continuous take, making it a masterclass in acting.

Stephen, the show’s co-creator, also has a role on-screen, portraying Eddie Miller—Jamie’s dad.

After the series premiered on Netflix on March 13, Adolescence has been receiving nothing but critical acclaim for its writing, direction, and acting performances.

Despite Owen’s newfound fame, the actor seems to still be very humble and modest about his recent achievements.

During a recent interview, he admitted “not much had changed” about his life since Adolescence, claiming he hasn’t even been approached by many fans.
