Led by The Princess and supported by The Royal Foundation, the annual event offered a chance to pause and reflect on the values of love, compassion, and the connections we share. The service also highlighted remarkable individuals from across the UK who have demonstrated extraordinary kindness, empathy, and support within their communities.

The outfit Charlotte wore looked strikingly similar to one of her late Grandmother’s.

Key Points

Princess Charlotte’s outfit at the carol service drew comparisons to Princess Diana’s 1981 look.
The event included royals, celebrities, and a heartfelt letter from Kate Middleton.
The Wales family recently moved to Windsor, marking a new chapter amid recent royal challenges.

Princess Charlotte is drawing striking comparisons to her late grandmother, Princess Diana.

Charlotte joined dad Prince William, mom Kate Middleton, and her brothers—Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, 7—for the annual Together At Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey on Friday, December 5. For the occasion, she wore a navy velvet long-sleeve dress with a crisp white collar, navy tights, and matching flats. The classic outfit immediately stirred memories of the late princess, who wore a nearly identical ensemble to a Royal Festival Hall dinner in December 1981.

The holiday service (set to air in the U.K. on Christmas Eve) included other notable royals plus members of Middleton’s family. The guest list also included an impressive lineup of stars, including Hannah WaddinghamEugene LevyKate Winslet, and Chiwetel Ejiofor—with the latter two delivering readings inside the Abbey.

Attendees received a heartfelt letter from Middleton, 44, who has hosted the event since 2021.“There is a softness to the season that reminds us of something easy to forget; that what we do matters,” she said in her speech. “Our words, our choices, and even the ways we look out for one another—they ripple outward, touching lives we may never see.”

The outing also comes during a period of transition for the Wales family. The Prince and Princess of Wales quietly moved into Forest Lodge in Windsor with their children in early November. The relocation marked the end of their three-year stay at Adelaide Cottage and brought them closer to Lambrook School and to Middleton’s parents in Bucklebury. “We were in London but moved there for more green space,” she previously said. “It’s close enough to London, not too far away.”

After a difficult stretch for the royal family—including the loss of Queen Elizabeth II and cancer diagnoses for both King Charles and Middleton—this year’s carol service offered a moment of tradition and togetherness. And, through young Charlotte, a touching reminder of Diana’s enduring legacy.
