Virgin River season 6 ended with a shocking turn of events from Lark, leaving viewers to question her motivations and the limits of betrayal in her relationship with Brady. Lark is known for her fiery personality and strong independence, which are great traits for a major character in a romantic drama. However, Lark has also shown her villainous side, and proved to be a schemer in season 6 who was lying to Brady from the start.

Brady is far from perfect, but throughout the Virgin River seasons, he’s been increasingly positioned as a good guy who’s misunderstood. That’s why it was difficult to watch him get deceived by Lark over and over, with fans wanting their relationship to just end already. But be careful what you wish for, because end it did, in a way that proved disastrous for Brady. With Virgin River season 7 already confirmed, the fallout for Lark’s betrayal is far from over.

In Virgin River season 6, Lark’s romantic involvement with Brady unravels dramatically. Initially, Lark and Brady appear to be building a genuine relationship. Brady is even considering taking on a fatherly role with her daughter, Hazel. However, Lark overhears Brady confessing his feelings for his ex, Brie, during Mel and Jack’s wedding. Feeling betrayed, Lark briefly confronts Brady, who lies to her in return, which prompts Lark to take drastic action. However, Brady’s lying is hardly surprising because Brady and Lark’s relationship was built upon lies, making them one of the worst couples in Virgin River.

Lark disappears with Hazel and empties Brady’s bank account, which she had been working on with her lover, Jimmy, all season long. Virgin River season 6 ends with Brady facing the consequences of his actions, including the loss of his savings and the collapse of his relationship with Lark. As for what’s next for Lark, that remains to be seen. However, viewers can only assume there will be some conclusion regarding her relationships with both Jimmy and Brady.

Lark, Brady & Brie’s Ending Is Too Melodramatic

Lark’s Actions Are Very Extreme For A Grounded Drama Like Virgin River

Lark, Brady, and Brie’s season six ending leans heavily into melodrama, making the conclusion lack emotional nuance. Lark’s reaction to Brady’s secrets feels extreme as she disappears with her daughter and drains Brady’s bank account after just a brief confrontation with him. While it’s understandable for her to feel betrayed, the rapid escalation of her story makes it feel more like the writers were trying to give her a grand exit from Brady’s life, rather than having the characters have an organic emotional response.

Brady’s decision to lie to Lark about his feelings for Brie, combined with his inability to speak honestly, drives the story’s conflict out of season 6 and into season 7, as it’s unknown what he is going to do to get his money back. It feels like he’s caught in a never-ending web of poor decisions, making the miscommunication between him, Brie, and Lark a situation that’s more about shock value than actual resolution or growth.

While Lark’s betrayal is meant to evoke tension, it comes offoff as overly dramatic, reducing the emotional payoff for viewers. Instead of feeling deeply moved by the characters’ emotional honesty, audiences might feel like they’re watching a soap opera-style series of overblown confrontations rather than an authentic depiction of complex relationships, which doesn’t work because Virgin River is more of a grounded drama.

Actor Ben Hollingsworth Thought Brady’s Ending Was Justified

Though He Didn’t Think Brady Deserved To Have His Bank Account Drained

Brady actor Ben Hollingsworth, believes that his character’s ending in season 6 was mostly justified. Hollingsworth acknowledges that Brady’s actions throughout the season, especially his dishonesty towards Lark and his complicated past with Brie, set the stage for his downfall. He feels that the consequences Brady faces are a natural result of his decisions and the lies he told to protect himself, ultimately leading to Lark’s betrayal.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hollingsworth discussed Brady’s season 6 ending in more detail, speaking to what his character should have done:

“What he didn’t do is what he was saying he was going to do, which is make the habit of being honest. He should’ve stopped dancing with her and said, ‘Listen, I need to talk to you. I realized tonight that you’ll always be second in line. I still have feelings of Brie. I had an affair with Brie. You don’t really deserve me, and if you want to move on, I totally understand.’ That is the proper response”.

The actor went on to say that he was disappointed that Brady was “falling back into his old ways,” especially when the character had made so much progress in the previous seasons of Virgin River. Hollingsworth did say that he believes Brady didn’t deserve to have all of his money stolen, but otherwise, Lark’s course of action was justified. The actor also noted that this type of resolution is critical for the character’s growth and offers a chance for redemption in future seasons.

At the end of season 6, Brie is faced with the fact that both Brady and Mike have romantic feelings for her. Brie has a strong connection with both of the men, but their relationships with her are rooted in very different circumstances, making her choice all the more complicated.

Mike has presented himself as a solid, dependable figure in Brie’s life. He is consistently there for Brie, offering her stability and support, and he has always been a source of comfort. However, their relationship has often been strained by his prior baggage and their differing life paths. While Mike clearly cares for Brie, the potential for a future together feels uncertain. Their relationship is faced with even more challenges because Mike proposes to Brie, despite knowing about her affair with Brady. But, alas, the credits role before she is able to answer, leaving their future as a couple uncertain.

Conversely, Brady brings a more intense yet unstable dynamic to Brie’s life. Their connection is more turbulent due to Brady’s complicated past, including his legal troubles and his relationship with Lark. However, Brady and Brie share undeniable chemistry and emotional depth.

In Virgin River season 7, Brie will likely have to navigate her feelings for both men and ultimately make a decision about her romantic future. In an interview with US Magazine, Zibby Allen said he discussed the difficulty of Brie’s position, saying,

Many of us know what that’s like to make a decision that’s based on logic and parsing through and going, ‘This is why I should be doing something or be with this person.’ And then there’s that sort of undeniable thing, this chemistry that doesn’t just die overnight…”

Brady Will Have To Track Down Lark & Hazel

It’s An Emotional And Economic Move

Virgin River season 7 will likely see Brady track down Lark so that he can not only get his money back but also confront her so he can get to the bottom of why she left so abruptly. Also, considering Brady’s growing concern for Hazel, it’s likely he will take action to find them sooner rather than later.

Ben Hollingsworth also discussed what he suspects is coming for Brady in season 7. In an interview with Radio Times, the actor said that he can’t spoil much, because he is sworn to secrecy not to talk about upcoming plot lines. It’s also worth noting that viewers likely won’t be able to get insight into future plot lines though Robin Carr’s Virgin River books because that series has now finished its story.

However, Hollingsworth said that Brady is not the kind of guy who “would just leave it alone that someone took all his money. I think that he’s the guy that would go looking for that,” which means that he Virgin River season 7 will see the fan-favorite character launch into action.
