Chrissy Teigen Reveals Major Health Update About 6-Year-Old Son Miles After Fans Spot a Change

Chrissy Teigen announced a significant health update about her son Miles after dozens of eagle-eyed fans noticed something different about the little boy at the 2024 Olympics.

Teigen — who shares four children with husband John Legend — took to instagram on Wednesday, July 31, to share a lengthy explanation of her 6-year-old son’s diagnosis with her followers.

Reposting a photo of herself and her two eldest kids Luna, 8, and Miles cheering Simone Biles on at the Olympics, their arms raised in celebration, Teigen explained:

“A lot of you noticed something a little special about a photo I posted a few days ago — Luna, Miles and i celebrating Simone and team USA. Miles had his arm up, and soooo many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredlble words I have ever witnessed on this platform,” the TV personality — who is also mom to 18-month-old Esti and 13-month-old Wren — began the caption.

“You noticed his type-1 diabetes monitor and extended so much love and encouragement in every way possible,” she continued in the missive to her fans. “I was, and am, so blown away by the kindness of this community, already.”

Teigen noted that the family’s journey into receiving Miles’ Type-1 diabetes diagnosis began after he — and several of his friends — got sick after attending summer camp.

“A couple of weeks ago, our Miles was sick, in the hospital, with a terrible case of shigella, an intestinal infection caused by bacteria in food or water. A lot of his friends were also sick with it, as they all went to the same camp, and well, it happens!” the social media personality elaborated. “But the doctors knew something else was off about his blood tests. I’be learned since then this is how so many young children end up being diagnosed with type-1 — going to the hospital for something completely different.”

“After more testing,” Teigen continued, “We learned he is in the ‘honeymoon period’ of a lifetime of T1. Last night we gave him his first shot of insulin and here we go! A different, new world for us and we are certainly learning so much on the fly.”

She concluded her post with a heartfelt message to her followers, whom she thanked “for your kindness.”

“It helps miles so much to know so many other people are going through the same thing and he is not alone,” she wrote.

Speaking of her son finding comfort in others with the same diagnosis, the first photo in Teigen’s instagram carousel was a photo of a page from a children’s book that appeared to be about type-1 diabetes.

“When I’m ready for bed at the end of each day I always feel safe and my parents will say: ‘Son, it’s so brave how you handle the pain. You take all these shots and you hardly complain,'” the excerpt read. “‘The two of us wish there was more we could do. We’d take fifty shots each to spare your next two.'”

Teigen — who also noted that she, Legend and Miles are working with “a wonderful, kind, huge-hearted specialist” — later told a fan via her Instagram Story that her “new mission” is to “wholeheartedly … advocate” for parents of children struggling with type-1 diabetes.
