While most Netflix original series are high-profile dramas, Running Point proves that the streamer can still serve up hilarious shows on a much smaller scale. One thing that helps elevate Running Point over other sitcoms is its A-list cast, and Kate Hudson alone brings a level of starpower not seen in most other light comedies. Taking a page from shows like Ted Lasso, Running Point blends the excitement of professional sports with down-to-Earth humor, making the series relatable despite its unusual premise. As such, Netflix wasted no time in sending The Waves out on the court for a second season.

Running Point Season 2 Story Details
Will Isla Lose Her Job To Cam?

Sports are all about triumph and tragedy, and the sports comedy had plenty of both in the ending of Running Point season 1. Though Isla was able to get the Waves on track and into the playoffs, the stunning loss in game seven was a major setback for everything they had accomplished. Reeling from the team’s failure and her recent breakup with Lev, she was even more shocked to find that her brother Cam had returned from rehab. The former president of the team seems intent on getting his old job back, and season 2 could lead to a family feud over who deserves the job more. Off the court, it’s unclear if Isla will attempt to get back with Lev, and things are made doubly confusing by her make-out session with coach Jay Brown. Elsewhere, Jackie has finally started to make headway within the organization, but he’ll likely face setbacks in season 2. Sandy got back with his old boyfriend, but it isn’t certain if it will last this time, or if he is merely falling into old habits. Running Point may be a sports sitcom, but there are enough storylines to make it a compelling watch even without the copious laughs as well.
