Tom Cruise was thrilled watching Twisters, according to Anthony Ramos.

Cruise attended the European premiere of the new disaster movie held at Cineworld Leicester Square on July 8, in London. The actor supported his Top Gun: Maverick costar Glen Powell, who stars in the tornado movie opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones, Ramos and more.

At the Twisters premiere in Los Angeles on July 11, Ramos, 32, told PEOPLE that Cruise “was losing his mind” during the screening.

“Glen was sitting behind me, my brother was next to me, and Tom was behind my brother. Tom just kept hitting me the whole entire movie,” says Ramos. “After the third time I turned back around, like, ‘Yo, Tom Cruise is bugging out right now!’ He keeps hitting me.”

“He keeps hitting me because he’s excited about different moments, and he’s laughing,” the actor continues. “He’s just laughing out loud the whole entire film. He wasn’t afraid to express himself. I was super grateful about that.”

What did Cruise say to Ramos after the movie? “We hugged it out,” says Ramos. “He’s like, ‘Yo, bro, good man, good stuff.’ So shout out to Tom Cruise, man. It was really cool.”

Afterward, Cruise, 62, shared photos smiling inside the theater with his popcorn, writing on Instagram, “Fun night with friends, watching a movie!!” In one video from the event, Ramos can be seen smiling as he sneaks into Cruise and Powell’s photo.

Ramos says his favorite part of working on Twisters was collaborating with Minari director Lee Isaac Chung and the cast. “That whole crew was some of the best, the best group of people I’ve ever worked with in my life,” he says.

“It’s always a blessing when you can work with amazing human beings and people who are super talented at the same time,” adds Ramos.

Twisters is in theaters July 19.
