As much as I loved the tension, the buildup, and the chase sequences in The Day of the Jackal episode 5, the shortcoming of the series was how the makers really tried their level best to defy logic and find a convenient solution to all problems. We saw in the previous episodes that Bianca had figured out that Jackal had dismantled his snipe and fitted it in his suitcase. She also got to know that it was Norman Stokes who had made that customized sniper rifle for him. At the end of episode 4, Bianca caught Larry and took him into custody. Larry threatened to kill Jasmine, Bianca’s daughter, but Bianca arrived just at the right time and brought the situation under control. The Jackal always kept his identity a secret, and he refrained from meeting his clients. But this time, Zina’s bosses wanted her to babysit the Jackal, primarily because the stakes were so high. Ulle Dag Charles was no commoner. Zina’s bosses knew that they couldn’t afford for anything to go wrong, and that is why they chose the Jackal for the job, as they were pretty impressed by his work ethic and his track record.
Did Larry give Bianca information about Norman?
After what happened at the end of episode 4, Paul, Bianca’s husband, decided to move in with his ex-wife, just because he didn’t feel that his family was safe in their house. Larry had broken into their home and threatened to kill Jasmine. Paul knew that Bianca was very passionate about her job and that it was her priority, but what happened the other day was not acceptable to him. Bianca tried reasoning with Paul, but he was in no mood to listen to her. Bianca told her husband not to compare her job with what he did. She told him that a minute’s delay in her field of work could cost somebody their life. But Paul needed some time off, and he just didn’t want to reconcile with his wife at that moment. What pinched Bianca even more was that of all the places, he had chosen the house of his ex-wife to go and stay in. But Bianca couldn’t do anything as he had made his decision. Bianca figured out that the Jackal’s next target was UDC. She’d just read a newspaper clipping, and she was able to connect the dots with ease (which personally felt a little too convenient for my liking). Bianca tortured Larry, and she told him that even if he didn’t tell her where Norman was staying, she would eventually find him and kill him. She told him that if he cooperated, then she would make sure that both he and Norman didn’t spend more than 5 years behind bars. Larry gave in eventually, and he told Bianca that his brother was in Budapest, though he didn’t know exactly where he stayed. Larry gave Bianca every detail he could remember, and the latter was able to figure out where Norman stayed. Bianca, together with her team, left for Budapest, though she still didn’t have any clue who the mole was who’d told Norman to escape the last time. Well, in episode 5, we got to know that even Norman didn’t know who had sent him the message telling him that visitors were going to show up. I have a feeling that it could be Osita Halcrow, Bianca’s superior, though at this moment it cannot be said for sure.
Was Bianca able to catch Norman Stoke?
The Jackal contacted Norman, and we realized that they both had a lot of mutual admiration for each other. Norman told the Jackal that his arm was injured, so he would need help to put together the gun. Norman didn’t have anybody whom he could trust, so Jackal broke his protocol and decided to go and help Norman out. This time around, Jackal wanted to fit his sniper into a “fracture walker boot”. Norman knew that it was a tough task, but he loved challenges. Both Norman and the Jackal worked for several hours, and finally, the gun was finished. The Jackal was not happy when he learned about what had happened to Norman in Belarus. He told Norman that his biggest strength was that he was discreet, and the moment the world came to know about him, his life would be over. The Jackal wanted to test the gun, so he went to a remote location to do that. Norman was tired, and so he decided to take a nap. On his way back, the Jackal noticed that a car was following him. He stopped at a cafe to figure out what was happening. He realized that it was Bianca and her team, and that’s when he gave a call to Norman and asked him to destroy all evidence and escape from there. Norman wasn’t able to get away, though he did delete the files on his computer system. Norman got caught by Bianca, and the latter was hopeful that she would be able to get some valuable information from him. Bianca triggered him and made sure that he got angry. But before Norman could say or do anything reckless, the Jackal took a shot and killed him using the very sniper rifle that was made by Norman for the UDC mission.
Who caught the Jackal?
