The experience of watching at home has never been more terrifying than in theaters, yet here we are.
One of the most anticipated horror movies of this year is finally getting a digital release, though not everyone may be ready to see all those extra materials coming alongside the final cut.
A horror comedy Abigail initially hit the cinemas back in April, garnering raving reviews from both critics and viewers, and now the movie’s fans will have one more reason to rewatch it, as the flick arrives already this month and brings a sneak peek into the whole production process.
What Is Abigail About?
Starring Alisha Weir and Melissa Barrera, Abigail follows a group of criminals that kidnap young ballet dancer Abigail, who also happens to be a powerful underworld figure’s daughter and demand a ransom of $50 million from her father.
The request isn’t fulfilled as fast as the kidnappers would want it to as they now have to spend an entire night in an isolated mansion watching the girl that would bring them a fortune.
When the night falls, it becomes clear that dealing with the consequences of the whole fraud won’t be that easy, as the criminals discover Abigail’s paranormal abilities threatening their lives in the locked up house.
Abigail was one of those long-awaited releases that didn’t disappoint upon its arrival. Though the movie had quite modest results in the box office grossing $42 million against the initial budget of $28 million, it still got numerous accolades from critics and the audience, landing impressive scores of 82% and 85% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
Nearly two months after it was dropped in cinemas, Abigail is soon coming back in a digital form that, apart from the film itself, will also include deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, exclusive videos from the set titled Blood Bath, Hunters to Hunted and Becoming a Ballerina Vampire that will feature the main cast and dive deeper into specific scenes, as well as some commentary from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
Abigail will get its Digital HD release on June 25 while Blu-ray and DVD editions will arrive on July 9.
