Do you have a Reacher-shaped hole in your heart? These projects will help fill that void.
The first season of Reacher became an unexpected hit – the adaptation of Lee Child’s novels attracted viewers unfamiliar with the source material, as well as fans of the books who complained that the character previously played by Tom Cruise was far from what Child described.
The second season came out almost two years after the release of the first, and the show was renewed for a third season at the end of 2023. And only recently new information has emerged – a new chapter of Reacher’s story will be released in 2025.
It’s still a long wait, so here are five TV shows to help you pass the time while you wait for the new season.
1. Banshee, 2013-2016
After creating True Blood for HBO, Alan Ball was trusted with a new production – a thriller about a former criminal who suddenly became the sheriff of the town of Banshee, somewhere in Pennsylvania.
A criminal who served 15 years for stealing diamonds is looking for his former lover and accomplice Carrie, for whom he turned himself in to the police. He finds her in the status of a housewife who married a prosecutor, bore him children and does not even want to know her ex-lover.
After accidentally witnessing the murder of the newly appointed Sheriff, the criminal steals his documents, his position and his name. Now his name is Lucas Hood, and he begins to bring justice to Banshee using some rather illegal methods.
2. The Terminal List, 2022-…
In the adaptation of the best-selling book of the same name by Jack Carr, Chris Pratt played the role of the Navy Seal James, who survives an ambush during a dangerous mission. When James returns home, he realizes that the threat has not gone away – now it comes from his superiors, and the main character himself is in the middle of a political conspiracy.
The Terminal List is one of Chris Pratt’s strongest acting works – here he forgets about the charming Star-Lord and reveals himself to the viewers not even from the dramatic, but from the tragic side.
3. Jack Ryan, 2018-2023
Jack Ryan is a former Marine who left the service due to a back injury. He makes a lot of money in the banking industry and is a professor at the Naval Academy.
Financial fraud brings him to the attention of the CIA and he is hired as an analyst. Ryan’s intelligence and knowledge allow him to investigate the most complex cases related to international terrorism and political conflicts.
The plot of the series is based on the works of author Tom Clancy. The author worked on this series of books in the genre of political techno-thrillers almost all his life.
4. Bosch, 2014-2021
The series tells the story of Harry Bosch, a homicide detective working for the Los Angeles Police Department. Bosch is investigating the main case of his life – the mysterious murder of a thirteen-year-old boy.
Bosch has his own face and is imbued with a unique L.A. noir feel that is so lacking in other cop shows these days. For this we should thank the team of the legendary crime drama The Wire, from which not only some of the actors came to Bosch, but also the writers Eric Overmyer and Jim McKay.
5. The Punisher, 2017-2019
Frank Castle is a combat veteran who lost his family in a shootout between criminal gangs in New York. Having lost the meaning of life, he finds new purpose and begins to fight organized crime. During one of his raids, he learns that the deaths of his loved ones were not accidental.
A collaboration between Netflix and Marvel, The Punisher is the fourth adaptation of the adventures of Frank Castle. The series tells not only the story of the character, but also the difficulties associated with post-traumatic disorder.
