Marvel Studios, known for its reluctance to officially cancel shows, opting instead for the ‘limited series’ tag, appears to have made a rare move. A beloved series praised for its engaging storytelling and critical acclaim, confirmed through storyboard artist Gabi Rode’s comments, is facing an early conclusion.
Despite the series boasting a pristine 100% Rotten Tomatoes critic score, it will not see a third season. The series in question? ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.’
The news broke via X/Twitter with insights from user @owlphibia and was given further credence by Rode, who lamented the long-standing knowledge of the show’s fate among Disney staff. He revealed that the production area had been deserted for more than a year, indicating a decision long made but only now coming to light.
What sucks is that a bunch of us at Disney knew about this for so long but couldn’t outright say it. The MoonGirl production area was a ghost town for over a year 🙁 https://t.co/RlAcHRZX7Q

The animated series, adored by both young audiences and critics alike, follows the adventures of 13-year-old Lunella Lafayette in New York City. Lunella, much like a teenage Shuri from ‘Black Panther,’ teams up with Devil Dinosaur after he emerges from a mysterious portal.
Together, they embark on various missions to defeat eccentric villains, filling a niche in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that connects the dots back to the famed Avengers.
Featuring voices such as Diamond White as Lunella and Fred Tatasciore as her dinosaur companion, the series also included stars like Alison Brie, Jennifer Hudson, Maya Hawke, Daveed Diggs, and Wesley Snipes. Laurence Fishburne also returned to voice Ben Foster, linking the animated tales to the live-action world of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’
Fans can take solace in knowing that the remaining 10 episodes, scheduled to air in early 2025, are designed to conclude the story satisfactorily without leaving any narrative threads dangling.
