Cobra Kai 6 brings the heat with Zara Malik, portrayed by 13-time world champion Rayna Vallandingham, bringing fierce intensity and skill.
Cobra Kai may be on its final lap, but you can bet it’s not going down quietly. The beloved series, which has captured the hearts of fans with its mix of nostalgia and martial arts drama, is ready to give us one last adrenaline-pumping season. And trust us, it’s packing a punch. Season 6, which marks the grand finale, is taking things up a notch—with a global showdown and a new villain that could very well steal the spotlight.
Note that season 6 is unfolding in three parts, making sure we get more than just a quick dose of action before the final bow. The first batch dropped this past July, and now part two is officially live (since November 15), adding five more episodes to fuel our addiction.
The latest season introduces a new antagonist who’s about to shake things up in a big way. Meet Zara Malik, played by the real-life powerhouse martial artist Rayna Vallandingham.
Zara Malik’s Cobra Kai Season 6: The Villain We Didn’t Know We Needed
While the rivalry between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do has been the backbone of the Cobra Kai, Season 6 Part 2 flips the script with a new villain, and this one comes with some serious martial arts credentials. We are talking about Zara Malik, who doesn’t just show up for the fight—she owns it.
Played by the phenomenal Rayna Vallandingham, Zara is a member of the Iron Dragons, one of 16 international teams competing in the prestigious Sekai Taikai tournament in Barcelona. But here’s the twist: Vallandingham is a 13-time world champion in real life, with more martial arts titles under her belt than most of us can even count (per her Instagram bio). Moreover, she’s a 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo, the young athlete who has been dominating the martial arts scene since she was a child.

Vallandingham’s journey to becoming a martial arts icon is nothing short of inspiring. In last year’s interview with In The Know by Yahoo, she shared how she started Taekwondo at just two years old — but it wasn’t all smooth sailing at first. To quote her:
My parents put me in it because I was just really timid. The beginning of my martial arts journey was actually really, really funny. And I would hide underneath the chairs because I was so shy for like six months…But eventually, I gained the confidence to do it. And the rest is history.
Her transformation from a shy kid to a confident, world-record-holding athlete didn’t happen overnight. It was fueled by grit, determination, and a desire to prove herself. “It was in those moments where I really looked at myself in the mirror and thought, ‘I’m proud of you. We just did that’”, she added.
Rayna Vallandingham’s Mission to Empower and Break Barriers

Zara Malik emerges as a particularly formidable and captivating antagonist to Tory Nichols (Peyton List) and Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) in Cobra Kai Season 6, injecting a fresh dynamic that keeps both characters on their toes with her unmatched intensity.
And while Zara may be a villain on screen, Rayna Vallandingham’s story off-screen is one of empowerment, strength, and breaking barriers (via In The Know by Yahoo).
I want to inspire so many girls who don’t see people that look like them. And for me, the closest thing was like Lucy Liu. And I absolutely adore her because I know she inspired so many little Asian girls that are now kicking a*s.

Vallandingham’s mission is clear: she wants to inspire not just young girls but also boys who’ve been told they aren’t “masculine enough”: She said:
If you want to do martial arts in cute clothes and makeup, go do it. That’s what you’re here on this Earth to do. You’re here to break barriers and push the envelope, and through your passion as well, which I think is so powerful.
And like Rayna Vallandingham in real life, Zara knows how to play the game both on and off the mat. The second part dropped on November 15, 2024, with the final chapter set to land on February 13, 2025. This series picks up where the original Karate Kid films left off, serving as a direct continuation of the saga.
Cobra Kai Season 6 is streaming on Netflix.
