Upcoming 'Star Wars: Skeleton Crew' Is Allegedly Becoming a Victim of Disney's Internal Policies

Disney’s most recent Star Wars project, The Acolyte has been at the center of numerous controversies since its premiere and was also a victim of significant review-bombing. Nevertheless, after eight episodes, The Acolyte is over, and fans are now waiting for more Star Wars content, especially since The Acolyte‘s final episode managed to redeem the whole series in the eyes of many fans of the franchise.

The first major upcoming project is Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew, a series that promises to be radically different than The Acolyte in more ways than one, especially since it is going to be focused on children. Starring Jude Law, the series is expected to air on December 3, 2024, but there seem to be some issues with the series!

Namely, some insider reports that are leaking claim that Disney is not satisfied with the series. And while we don’t really know the exact reason, some fans online are theorizing that there might be a reason connected to The Acolyte.

As we have said, Skeleton Crew is the universe’s next big project. The series is set in the same timeline as The Mandalorian and will star Jude Law as an unnamed Force user, as well as a series of child actors. The official description reveals the following:

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Now, as it stands, no one save for the Disney execs has seen the series yet, but some reports claim that the heads of Disney are not satisfied with the show, despite there being a lot of enthusiasm among the cast and even the fans, a lot of whom are welcoming a series that they do not consider to be “woke” like The Acolyte. But some fans also think that this might be the issue.

As we have explained earlier, The Acolyte caused an unseen amount of controversy online, as many fans were angered by the show’s wokeness and the number of non-caucasian actors seen in the series. They were also angered by the fact that the showrunner was a woman and a member of the LGBT community, as they believed that it would influence the show.

While The Acolyte certainly had its problems, the above-listed issues are not among them, and they are a reflection of the fans’ bigotry, which is something we cannot stand behind, whatever the circumstances.

But, be that as it may, as we have said and reported, The Skeleton Crew might be facing some issues as the Disney execs are supposedly not really satisfied with the show. For starters, this has not been confirmed officially; also, even if it is true, the official reasons have not been confirmed, so this is mere conjecture on the part of some fans. Now that we have cleared this up, what are the fans saying?

Well, the fans are, firstly, happy that the Skeleton Crew is – seemingly – not going to be “woke,” and because of that, they are claiming that the Disney execs are not satisfied with the story:

Of course, the logic is not that reasonable here, as it is based on the following premises: The Acolyte was woke, and Lusacfilms loved it; at the same, Lucasfilm doesn’t like Skeleton Crewtherefore, it is not woke, and Lucasfilms does not like it because it is not woke. As you can see, the logic behind this reasoning is not that sound, but the fans are tough to dissuade once they get at it.

The rumors might turn out to be false, but even if it does turn out that Lucasfilm does not like Skeleton Crew, it might be because the show is simply not that good, not because it is not woke; ultimately, we don’t even know whether it’s woke or not, as no one has seen it yet, save for the execs. Be that as it may, the series is still on track to be released later this year, which is when everyone will be able to express their opinions. Until then, keep following us for more news and updates!
