Tencent Could Be Setting Themselves up for a Potential Lawsuit With Light of Motiram Which Looks Like a Clone of Horizon Zero Dawn

When you will sit on your chair to play Light of Motiram you might jump off from that seeing you already have that game which is Horizon Zero Dawn.

Light of Motiram is here. We witnessed what might be regarded as one of the most daring “inspired by” video games in the history of the industry earlier this year. Numerous games have attempted to replicate the same enchantment that the Pokemon series has provided, but Palworld is so similar to the original that the developers are currently embroiled in a legal battle.

Light of Motiram, which was only revealed a few hours ago, appears to follow the same pattern. The game aims to be ‘Horizon Zero Dawn with survival mechanics’ rather than ‘Pokemon with guns’. In actuality, the game’s promotional image and the one for Horizon Forbidden West are nearly identical. Keep in mind that Tencent subsidiary Polaris Quest is the developer of the game.

Light of Motiram‘s Steam page has gone live. The description of the game reads: “In a world overrun by colossal machines, explore the vast open world, build your base of operations, advance technology, train Mechanimals.”

These mechanimals appear to have been lifted directly from the Horizon series based on the images and videos. They primarily use a color scheme of grey, black, yellow, and neon blue lights and are modeled after actual animals. The post-post-apocalyptic setting, in which people are attempting to survive a significant catastrophe, is even comparable.

Similar to Guerrilla Games’ flagship series, the overall aesthetic and dress sense combine futuristic metals that appear to be mined from these mechanimals with a variety of primitive clothing.

The addition of building and survival mechanics is one of the main distinctions. It looks like you’ll have to establish a settlement and hunt for resources. You can also construct a variety of weapon types, and some of these machines will accompany you into combat. Together, you and up to ten other players can hunt resources, battle mechanimals, and even construct a base in the game.

It Might be Upsetting News for Horizon

That final detail will undoubtedly upset some mechanical feathers because of the long-rumored Horizon MMO in development as if Guerrilla Games’ mechanimal and overall design aesthetic weren’t concerning enough. Given that Sony views Aloy as one of its most important mascots, we may be facing yet another legal dispute.

The announcement’s most amusing aspect is that it comes before PlayStation has even made the online-only Horizon video game public. This suggests that the company’s largest wager on the live-service arena is causing a lot of problems for the powers that be.

If there is one thing that Palworld‘s early success—which has been more than sufficient to fuel its growth for years—taught us, it is that casual players don’t really care how much a game looks like someone else’s as long as it’s entertaining.

Another reason I believe legal disputes are imminent is that if Polaris Quest has created a delightful moment-to-moment gameplay loop, it may spell trouble for Guerrilla’s live-service version of Horizon and PlayStation.
