‘Agatha All Along’ Sets Unprecedented Viewership Record at Marvel Studios, Unrivaled by Any Other MCU Series

Agatha All Along premiered over two weeks ago with its initial two episodes. While the early reactions were mixed, both audience and critic scores have since stabilized, achieving a certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite experiencing review-bombing on IMDb, the show garnered an impressive 9.3 million views on Disney+ within its first week of streaming. Although the data may not be completely accurate, it provides a strong indication of the show’s overall popularity.

According to Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum, Agatha All Along has set another lesser-known record. In an interview with Variety, Winderbaum stated that the show has achieved the highest continuation rate among all Marvel series, though he did not provide specific figures.

In television, the continuation rate refers to the percentage of viewers who keep watching a series from one episode to the next, indicating how many people who tuned in for the initial episode(s) stick around for subsequent ones.

Winderbaum also revealed that Agatha All Along is the most affordable production to date, even less expensive than the Hawkeye spinoff, Echo, which had a production cost of approximately $40 million.

I can tell you it’s our least expensive show, and I think that was by design. We are looking to make these shows for a responsible cost. Frankly, it gives us a little bit more freedom creatively when we can bring them in at a reasonable budget. Like [“Agatha All Along”], for example, the show has minimal CG, way less than we’ve ever done before. It’s mostly practical effects, and I think you can feel it in the show.

Agatha All Along may not boast a large viewership, but its high continuation rate and low budget are encouraging signs. With minimal investment in the show, there’s considerably less pressure for it to achieve extraordinary financial success. This contrasts sharply with The Acolyte, which faces the same challenge of low viewership but comes with staggering production costs of $160 million.
