Fans have become quite accustomed to their favorite celebrities posting some or the other kind of ‘thirst traps’. The most recent example is Sydney Sweeney’s lake pictures, where she even called the post a ‘thirst trap’. While there is nothing wrong with posting such pictures, Alba does not seem to be interested in filling her social media with such posts.
In a recent interview, she explained her reasoning behind this, and it is quite interesting.
Jessica Alba Doesn’t Want to Post Thirst Traps
Recently, Jessica Alba gave an interview with People, where she was promoting Instagram’s new ‘Teen Account’ feature, which she helped with. Specifically talking about her own Instagram account, the actress explained that she is very cautious about what she posts online.
She mentioned that she wishes to be a role model for her three children and does not post something that she does not want her children to post themselves. She also clarified that she had nothing against people posting thirst traps. However, she simply does not practice it herself, as she does not want her children to follow in her footsteps.
I do believe, more than telling your kids what to do, is that leading by example is important. And nothing against thirst traps, but I’m not going to post a bunch of thirst traps as a mother of two girls and a boy, you know what I mean?
While many might be upset about the perspective that Alba brought to the table, she further explained the reason why she does not think that posting such pictures would be the best thing for her.
Jessica Alba Wants to Show That She Is More Than Her Looks
Jessica Alba further elaborated on why she is not interested in posting thirst traps. She started by saying that there were many things that people could post to showcase their personalities. While thirst traps can be one of them, they can be counterproductive. Often, when a celebrity posts thirst traps, they are reduced to their physical characteristics, and even if it’s for a second, that is all that they are.

With this in mind, she explained that she wanted her Instagram feed to showcase all the aspects of her person. She stated that posting images that only showcase her physical characteristics seems “one-dimensional” to her and doesn’t accurately encompass her personality.
I think it’s important to try and set as good of an example as possible and to have a variety [of things to post]. It doesn’t only need to be one thing. And I think, for me, it’s also just reflective of who I am. I’m not a one-dimensional person, and [it’s about] being able to show that.
Although many may find Alba’s perspective somewhat archaic, there is no denying that it highlights some important problems with social media in current times.
